AFA labor discussion (Work related)

Doesn't mean a thing if all the same people hold the same positions. It is not the AFA it is the people we elect.

Got the e line today...Mike F is elected President of the MEC til 12/31/14 so same old same old!! JM stated he is out once his term as LECP is over. It is up to us to vote in/out the contract when it comes out. I do care how you vote but will never ask you how you voted.....just if you EVEN voted!! If you have NOT, don't even start to complain about anything!! :angry:

Speaking of which, My friend tells me that your fearless leaders have been re-elected. Only big change was your vice president will now be Mark somebody. They said that he was MEC president in PIT for a while. Wonder if that will be enough to bring about any changes for the better. I hope so for you guys cause it looks like status quo otherwise.

Enough to bring about changes? Are you serious? This is just more of the same Koolaid. There were more deals made at those MEC elections than on Wall Street. The only changes may be for the worse. MF made his usual promises or better yet threats to mold his administration. Now he will have nothing but yes men/women . He is loving it and so is the Company. I heard that the new VP was hanging around the CLT crewroom selling the MF koolaid trying to convince the flight attendants to separate from the pilots. Nothing more than a new puppet. Its nice to see MF has a new puppydog. Hope he is paper trained. One thing in common with this group, NO BACKBONE. We need people like that other woman from PIT that left the company. Are these the best people we have??? If so God help us. They would be the laughing stock at any of the other airlines such as AA, UA Delta.

My comment was because someone different was elected to MEC vice president. Remember, I am not privy to the information that you guys are. Just what my friends that work there share. I don't think they were aware of the activites you describe. They were under the impression that he was sort of groomed by none other than Teddy. Sorry to here this is just not the case.

Flygirl74, I am not sure if you were poking at Zarah or not. That is fine you don't ask how they vote, just if they voted. However, I will remind you Zarah did not elect any MEC officer which is what is being presented at the moment. That is done by all your LEC reps. Telling them not to complain about it is not exactly fair when they had no vote on the matter. Again, you do not vote for MEC reps. I do hope that you guys are working on sending a message to your LEC people when their time is up for a vote though. I guess with the exception of Philly since it has been said he will not be running again. You guys should ALL be on the same team. Maybe I read your post wrong. I thought I would make that clarification though.

How is the recall thing doing? Are you guys still even working on it. Now it is even more crucial of a time to do it. First, you must tell Mr. Flores that he is not representing ALL flight attendants. Second, you must tell your company that what has been negotiated so far is not acceptable and that your current negotiating team does not speak for you.

I think at this point you will have an even steeper hill to climb but it is not impossible. As I have said time and time again, your voting history does not support you. I really hope to be wrong, but my friends say that it is the same thing every time. Nobody voted for it but it passed. The real reason is that NOBODY voted, period. Please prove me wrong because my friends there are driving me crazy!

The new MEC VP was an extra on a recent flight of mine. I do not think he is a puppet, but I do not think he is a mover and shaker either, but time will tell. My overall impression of him is that he believes FAs are driven by money. Simple as if the paycheck is enough people will vote for the contract. He does not claim to know a lot about the current contract negotiations, because he has not been involved in them. The impression he gave me was that he thinks that Flores and Carol hold valuable information as to the intent of the negotiated contract and that that information is valuable enough to keep them around.

These are just my impressions. He is a very approachable guy and upfront about what he does and doesn't know. He is not full of hot air, but actually seemed rather down to earth.

LOL, as long as the Swoosh Bus is running over the RSVs, I will be voting NO.

Rumblings about an new LEC vote, in CLT due to some people not receiving their ballots to vote and that their votes could have changed the outcome. This is interesting, because if the CLT LEC President changed with a new vote, then wouldn't that impact the MEC election results? Dunno. We shall see.

What you are seeing is a shift in the structure of the union. You have individuals who will protect their own interest at all cost. The election proved this. Although it is a secret ballot these result were brokered way before a vote was cast. It's the same old MEC with a few exception. The former sec/tres has a new Position working on a project with the International. The new Sec/Tres was hand picked. The former MEC Vp who had over 25 year of union work was kicked to the curb because he has a lot of history, but they accused him of not being in the office,even thought the space positive provision the union had for years was lost to get him to a from the office, just another commuter who I hear was still in the office more than anyone else. They wanted someone who would not rock the boat and have little affiliation with former rock the boaters from BOS and LGA. Sure the VP who was elected is a good guy, he was always on the coat tails of others and had a hard time standing on his own. Good luck to him because as soon as a need for him has past he'll be gone also. Just a perception.

I would have to agree that there is more solidarity now among the flight attendants at usairways east than ever.

I'd just advise not getting caught in a situation like the pilots are in where it one side against the other. There's not a thing wrong with solidarity among the East FA's but the goal should be solidarity among US FA's, not that East dictates to West. While it's impossible to please all the people all the time, the goal should be to reach consensus on what pleases most of the members most of the time. It shouldn't be to please most of the East FA's and the West FA's will just have to follow along obediently.

Truer words could not be spoken! This is what Some of us have been trying to say to you all along. It is not just line holder/reserve or east/west, it is ALL flight attendants. Most of my friends are on the east. However, when I have been on a flight that I know are west I always try to start a conversation with them about your issues. You would be amazed (or not) to find the same issues for them save for poor communication you guys get on the east. You need to build bridges now and join forces on your issues because the west MEC was in on those negotiations as well. It would lend appearances of some improvements to what they have. Might just be one of the negotiating tactics that are being employed. Try to sell the east on getting your seniority back while just selling the west any improvement of what they have already.

Look, to this day we have east f/a's that have NO IDEA about anything west related. You have east f/a's that have NO IDEA what Midatlantic was. You have east f/a's that have NO IDEA there are f/a's recently displaced. You have east f/a's that HAVE NOT educated themselves about the current negotiations. The same f/a's that will use PBS to live their lives don't even own G'damn computers. God help us all as the east group of f/a's are some the biggest bunch of idiots. I hope they vote the crap in and the damn union self implodes. ENJOY ! ! ! ! 🙄
