AFA labor discussion (Work related)

Okay, mooooving on.
I've been looking over a few things from the last few years, especially regarding the vacation matrices. A couple of things that I've noticed is that the company has built the highest time trips during the weeks that the most F/As have vacation (Imagine that). Not only that but they have clumped together the highest time trips within these weeks. The result is that F/As lose an almost incredulous amount of time, time that is difficult to make up.
I would like to see an improvement to the vacation language in some fashion that would protect us from this. I know, we can't go back in time but if it's possible, what type of improvements could be made? Any suggestions?
Also, has anyone else had an issue with catcrew in RT months where a trip gets knocked out because of RT, and blocks you from adjusting time in SAP? Happened to me, was told that it was due to the new legalities. I think it was a screw up in program because it blocked from touching ANY of the 4 days and it left me hanging with an extra 22hrs to make up.
Just wondering...

How about this.... No further discussion about the rumor unless someone can back it up with cold, hard proof. ENOUGH! ! ! !

Travel,

The way I've been vilified about this from the "Cathy Posse" makes me think that not only is this true but they think it's okay.

Well, guess what...it's not.

Cathy has a responsibility to represent everyone....not just the skinny girls. I could no more have someone taken off their trip over this than sprout wings and fly to Egypt. But hey, that's just me. Dear lord, whoever that was....probably walked off in tears. How awful.

It takes one cold so and so to have a f/a removed from their trip....deny them income...over a perceived safety issue. And believe me...that's all it is. There's not one shred of evidence that wearing an extension is unsafe. Even the company own's up to that. But they pushed it anyway.

Those extensions are made by the same company that makes our regular seat belts. They are made with the same high quality materials and they are rated to hold 3000 LPs. Yep, 3000 pounds. The very same as our regular seat belts. It's stamped on them. Go take a look.

There is also a huge double standard going on here too. Do you ever see this issue with the pilots? Why is that? You and I both know we have fellows out there that are as big as bulls. How do they wear their seat belt/harnesses? Because their's have lots of room. Their seat belt/harnesses will pull out to the dash board. Not ours. We're lucky if ours pullout at all.

Now I'm not saying if you need to use one you might need to go on a diet but I wouldn't deny a person employment or income. And that's what the company is doing. If the company feels that strongly about it, they should have a weight loss program in place and disability insurance to cover lost wages.

Just my opinion.

Still waiting for the proof, instead of your attempt to cloud the issue YOU started.

Also, policy is policy.

I never said I had proof of anything. Nor would I know how to prove anything. All I said was that it was something I heard on the line last week. But like I said earlier, go ask someone in inflight or someone in the union. I'm sure it's not a big secret. No laws have been broken that I'm aware of.

And policies can be stupid, unfair and can be changed or amended.

You posted it, you kept running with it, so those of us on the board want to see your proof, you made an accusation, and if it's not true, which we all think it is because you offered not one iota of proof, you defamed her character.

You cannot reveal action taken against an employee by the company, discipline is confidential, so once again you provide the proof.

Also, one of our policies is that we have to be able to lift 35 pounds of carry baggage yet there isn't a f/a out there that is going to throw another f/a off the airplane if they refuse to do so. In fact, most f/a's won't lift anyone's carry on baggage for fear of an OJI. Which the company will deny.

Please don't start with the "policy is policy" stuff. You're trying to go into areas that you really don't know nor understand because you're not a f/a. Okay?

Keep trying to change the subject with matters that have no bearing on what you accused Cathy of, so once again, where is the proof?

By the way, kudos to the Westies! Now, management knows that we are unified. Wish I could have been there to show support and see everyone walk out.
Great job!
l Here here!! I agree... it was great watching that.... too bad they all did not go...
what was up with them? Hey... I have lots of info from our past contracts....
we made 45.71 at 14 years... ???? Do you remember then? Just pull your old contracts...
This one was dated May 2000-April 2005...

and you think you are getting a raise ? The final offer that the company is giving us is already in our contract...

Most of the f/a's need to be informed ....

Read the post where you informed the board of the alleged behavior, now provide the proof or apologize to Cathy here on the boards.

Finally flyby- As they say where I come from in the South: "If it ain't your tail, don't wag it."

Good point Koolaid but I believe it is flyby's taill and thats why they are wagging it. Wagging so hard to get it out from between their legs. Trying to trash someone with no proof and then trying to defend themselves not very honorable. Then again the original election was clouded by some issues that were less than honorable. On a side note none of this information would be public knowledge unless someone in the Union or company had leaked it out but we all know about flapping jaws. JMHO

what was up with them?

They were not part of the union theatrical company. If you look at past crew news sessions the room was never packed like it was for this staged event. It was rather comical.
