AFA labor discussion (Work related)

CBAs under the RLA dont expire, and its up to the NMB to declare an impasse and start the clock on the 30 day cooling off period. Back in 1995 the M&R CBA was amendable and the board would not release us into the count until September of 1999, after we voted one T/A down. So dont count on a cooling off period anytime soon.

Unless the current Empty Suit living at 1600 Penna. Ave thinks it's in his best interests in order to get re-elected. Then it could happen Tuesday.
 
Ok, so Terry the LECP in PHL wanted to vote for a recall of Mike and Carol but Cathy the LECP in CLT and Alin in DCA would not go for it? Well this is directed directly to you, "You better listen to your members". PERIOD! ! ! ! CAPISCE? Grow a set would ya? 🙄 Ask John what happens when you don't listen to your members. mmmmmmmk!

If anyone here thinks they're going to be release in the next few YEARS, you need to move on to a new company.
 
As an FYI for the FA's, if you think you're going to see co-pairing and CATCREW in your next contract, the you need to kick back and relax - you'll never see a TA.

So long as you maintain those two positions, you're not going anywhere.
 
I don't know how negotiations got to where they are but it is a DISASTER. When not if the JNC on the east is changed the direction will change. All parties better snap out of it. This place will grind to a halt before ANYTHING and I do mean ANYTHING appears even remotely concessionary in nature to the former east contract. FORGET IT..... and that I can guarantee you is THE MAJORITY! ! ! Ain't gonna happen. It can stay seperated for 100 years first. So let it be written.....so let it be done. 😉

Well, I do have to commend the effort! Sounds like someone got a few calls over this issue. This is a step in the right direction. I don't see this as a failure. You just need to lobby flight attendants to inundate their respective leaders to follow Philly's lead. I do not point this out to be negative, but this is why I was saying to work this from all angles and not just wait for the MEC to vote not to send something to the members. You could have the very same outcome at that point too. They most likely succumbed to the pressure of the FUD that Mr. Flores has dripping from every pore.

Sounds like Philly may be on the right track! Hope the momentum continues. I know there are still risks involved, but it looks like someone might actually have a strategy to minimize this or they would not have done it.

There's a couple of different answers to that.

1. What we have now is superior to the mess that is currently under discussion.

2. Bureaucrats time being what it is, the fact is that EVENTUALLY we will be released to create umm CHAOS, and that is something that the reputation poor US should really avoid if there were any kind of leadership at work. We are very aware that Mr. P and Mr. K are of a different breed and flat out do not care about the reputation of the airline, however at some point when it gets hot enough, i.e. travellers book elsewhere to avoid a mess, it'll show up in their bottom line and catch their attention.

Either way, US doesn't win. We don't win either, but at this point, we're okay with that. It beats the alternative, which is a travesty of an agreement imposed by people who are patently NOT going to work under it.

Hey Yul Brenner, First thing they have to do is get all the secrets and dirty laundry out of Carol Austin. She has negotiated every contract since the Last Supper and knows exactly why something was written/negotiated and when it was. She probably has thousands of pages of notes that not even MF is privy to. The problem with this is that she has not shared this info with anyone and that can be detremental to future negotiations. AFA allowed her to do this through out the years and now they have to find a way to undo it. The first step was trying to get Diane Briton to cochair with Carol on scheduling but from what I heard, Carol would not even meet with her. Now Diane is DCA LECP and has vacated the position. They need someone else in there to deal with Carol and get all the info. on the skeletons in the closet. She should be FORCED to cough information up. Why isn't anyone doing anything about this?
 
I agree 100%. God forbid Carol were struck down by lightning tomorrow, flight attendant staffing would grind to a hault. Well maybe not to a hault but left a disaster. She should be forced to teach and train the next individual who would take her place. I'm not taking a swipe at age but she's not exactly 25. 🙄
 
Tell her secrets, Yes! Hand over her notes, absolutely! Teach and instruct anyone, I think not. Then all you would have was a clone not named Carol!!! :wacko:

Usually means that a customer was "Flagged" or "cut Off" due to being visibly intoxicated and possibly being a jackass to the flight crew. His/Her subsequent behavior could have led to the Philadelphia Police Department (aka Philyl's Finest") being summoned to the gate.
