CWA/Teamster labor thread -

That explains it then. Not surprising we didnt get ANY info on this sent out by the Local. :mf_boff:

The election/nomination/vote process was under some scrutiny with the decision making process

Not to mention the challenge filed And the re-election in the fall. Although CWA only recognizes the 2 elected bargainers and the alternates are left on the dark. That's the way VH wants it! If for any reason an alternate is needed we are all in deep poo-poo

Lady of the lake wasn't voted in. Her royal highness was appointed by CWA national to play footsie with our labor managers. She is as low as low can be.

CWA NATIONAL ARE YOU READING THIS. IF YOU DON'T DO SOMETHING YOU HAVE NO. FUTURE IN THIS INDUSTRY.

PHX airport csa's just elected 2 ft and 1 pt. I wonder how this whole IBT/CWA alliance is going to work out? How are the field stations represented?

Velvet was appointed by CWA pres Cohen, so the rank and file has no say in her position.

Velvet hand picked the negotiating commitee, so there is no accountability.

She does what she wants, and answers to no one.

Grab your ankles, it's coming.

Hello all, I am hoping that someone can point me in the right direction here. A friend was terminated and really screwed over by the company. Now the union is trying to screw her over too. The local president is refusing to take her case to arbitration, which if they did she would more than likely win. After doing some research on the CWA website, I have found that she can appeal however, they don't really make it easy. Anyone have any insight as to how to go about appealing a local presidents ruling? Thanks.

Check your local bi laws. Have a certain percentage of your members attend a membership meeting. Form a quorum and motion for the board to hear this case. The members can overrule the boards decision.

Who elected them? I dont remember seeing anything about volunteering to serve, putting your name in to run or actually electing someone to do it. How were the people on the bargaining committee selected and who are they? Nothing from our Local about any of this.

I work in JFK as a csa. I told my local pres in boston I wanted to be on the bargaining team. He said he was nominating himself. So even if I sent my name in to the cwa person that I wanted to be voted in as a bargaining person he said he carries all the votes and he was voting for himself. My old roomate works in another city and his local pres said this idiot in boston voted for himself two times and his 2nd vote was wasted because it was invalid. He was suppsed to vote for 2 different people. He is retired and been retired for many years and used to work in management from what I am told. The local presidents each voted for 2 people for the airports. The two that got elected are at least workers and not retired ex management like him! Those other local presidents voted the two rank and file in. At least he is only an alternat i hope the other two never miss a meeting. He does nothing for us! He was on the bargaining team during all of the bankruptcy give backs, he sold us down the river!

Hearing that and given what we're dealing with in our Local, lets just say we're screwed all around from the top down. And before someone tells me I'm the Union, get involved, been there, done that, still fighting the fight to get things right. I can only take so much grief before it just isnt worth it (especially since a lot was and is done on my own time and dime). If it werent for the contract vote coming up, I (along with at least 20 others that I know of) would be yanking our dues payments to show our dissatisfaction with our representation.

If you stop paying dues you can't run for a position, and it sounds like you would be someone that should step up. You still have to pay agency fees that are the same amt as dues in an airline job that is union. That is true in all unions that are under the rla....I worked for another one years ago, same rule with the iam. If you don't pay dues or fees you don't work there.

Please tell me what we are paying dues for? Yes I would love to see someone with knowledge come in. I have spoken to a Regional and advised them that many are not paying dues. Three weeks later, still no word. Folks, it is time for some kind of change and we better get with it or our time will be done. The smaller Stations will go Regional, no more Jet Express. They will agree that this crappy contract will not change unless we put over 2000 UsAirways employees in smaller stations out of work. Do you think that PHX, CLT and PHL will care about the other Stations? If they offer more money and a few little extra's the larger stations will vote yes, because that is where they plan to live and die. Also, think about all of the new hire's we have now,on this early out they will vote for a pay raise in a heartbeat.

For those of US that are still here, because we have no retirement and can not afford to retire......Let's all stand up
