Right on… FAN…
What most on here don’t realize is that in the late 70’s thru 80’s Piedmont Airlines was selective (Good ol’ Boys) as to whom was awarded full-time. The partial credit for part-time service in essence penalized senior people who were held to part-time status… while more junior good ol’ boys got upgraded! This travesty is still reflected in many of our now permanent adjusted classification dates. I think we should call for a class action if this not corrected!
To further elaborate on my point… (I don’t often reply to my own posts)… but I will on this one, due to the level of incompetence demonstrated by our Current Union Leadership!
The Adjusted Classification Seniority dates that many former Piedmont Airlines Employees now... ahhh…have been “assignedâ€â€¦ are based solely on their ability to play Softball!
That’s right! ... Softball!
The Piedmont good ol’ boy network was so well connected in the 70’s and 80’s that it went to the extent of each Station Manager speaking daily with one another other, via “Dial-Netâ€.
When it came time to accept any Part-Time to Full-Time upgrades from another station…The “good ol’ boy†Station Managers would insist…that only the best softball players would be sent to them for the interview process. This was done because each station competed in annual Softball Tournaments each year. The Station Managers during this time period… took pride, and competed with another in this endeavor… so only the best ball players were accepted for upgrade to fulltime.
Now… figure in the Piedmont/USAir adjustment formula of screwing part-time employees out of bidding time and we end up here!
Miraculously… guess what… We… the substandard “ball players†to this very day…are junior to agents such as ... those whom…“Could really hit the ballâ€!
Now… yahh wanna know why I’m pissed? Is this how a “real†union would handle seniority issues?... Think about it !
Perez… Are yahh educated yet?
