Strike Now

So are you suggesting that our salaries do not need to remain competive to attract talent? Not sure where you are from but I have witnessed "management" , that has never been in the A/C field, attempt to manage, at inflated salaries. They come and go so quickly, grab a "golden parachute" and bail. Yeah, I think they need a break, and I'd love to give them one!

What talent is trying to be maintained? I've not seen it on any grand scale.
We have supervisors off the street overseeing the work and crews on Heavy "C" Checks. They have no previous background with any airline much less AA.Most of the mechanics on the crews have a lot more knowledge of the operation and the best ways to flow an aircraft.
How would you like for a doctor with no prior experience overseeing your open heart surgery?
I can't believe they didn't ask themselfs why they were having to be hired off the street for supervisor positions.
Something is bad wrong with a Company when the experienced employees will not apply for management positions.

Please do strike. Boy it would be a disaster for unions.

It was sure a disaster for EAL.

Frank Lorenzo was the disaster at EAL!

You're right. Frank Lorenzo was the disaster at EAL. But he, like oneflyer, thought that he could do it without the employees and that the employees were the problem.
When all the unions walked out, he had free reign to pay the scabs whatever he wanted and treat them how he saw fit. Well, oneflyer, he had his minimum wage help and he still could not make EA or CO profitable.

Hey MCI, I read on the Kansas City Star website that AA and Kansas City will be signing the new lease for the maintanence facility. How many aircraft bays does the base have?

Reading what you union people write is like going to the zoo and watching all the dumb animals.

Well now, isn't this a productive thread.

Productive, not really. However it does prove that there is division.

<_< aafsc---------- We have a total of 12 Bays. 2 that were designed for the 747's, which can also take 777's. 10 smaller bays that can take aircraft as large as the 757, with the doors closed. Also the smaller, can take 767's, and maybe even 777s in 2, with a cutout in the doors, with tail outside. We have a large amount of shop space, although a.a. has striped out most of our tooling. Bld#2, is our old engine overhaul building. Has several engine test cells, and one super test cell we used for our JT9, and RB211 engines. Again, a.a. has stripped out all tooling. We had one of the best APU overhaul shops in the U.S. Also gone. The article you read in the Star, most of been on a no news day! Because it really didn't tell us anything we didn't already know! But thanks for asking! Ask me again, "when", and "if", they "really"do sign this lease!!!!"Almost" only counts in the game of horse shoes!!!!

When I was at EAL, we had a woman that spewed hatrid for the unions and the unionized employees. She said all the same crap that you are saying now. She was intoxicated by the EAL koolaid. Well, one day I saw her on the contract maintanence line with a set of overalls on. She was a secretary but she went and got her Airframe and Powerplant licenses and became an aircraft mechanic for EAL. Obviously, I was shocked. It appears she talked all that crap because she was jealous of the union negotiated wages as compared to what she was making as a secretary. Maybe your situation is very similar to hers.
