US Pilot Labor Thread--ALL Pilot/Union Issues Discussed Here

With 2700 active East pilots, that would mean all active are members and some out on LTD or West pilots, would it not?

On April 17, 2008 the representation vote was

5238 eligible
2723 USAPA 51.9%
2254 ALPA` 43.0%

Today

5000 total (approximate)
2804 USAPA members A gain of 81 pilots from the election. Can you feel the momentum.

So the east union has offered nothing but DOH to the same people that voted for DOH. But delivered nothing so far. A one trick pony.

Now USAPA wonders why they are unable to get a contract from the company.

4. Wouldn't LOA 93 for the west mean a common contract? Sure would. HELLO NIC!!

Metro,
Am I to infer from above that you and other West folk want the nic AWARD enough to
adopt LOA93 w/o a fuss? If so, i fail to see how West is NOT advantaged in NIC over the East.

It is not that the west is “advantagedâ€￾ with the Nicolau. It is that the west so severely damaged, harmed and disadvantaged using DOH and the ridiculous C&R.

No, I for one will not accept your crap LOA 93 contract.

Cult? Jeez Jim, you worked with us for how many years? Thanks.
Ya know, I was all set to explain my "cult" comment because you're one of the few that can engage in an adult discussion without resorting to slurs and name calling. Then I read the 2nd post after yours and figured that it illustrated my point nicely.

Jim,

Cult is a slur and name calling, a rose is a rose, no explanation needed.

For all of you USAPA propagandists. Facts really are messing up your fantasy.

What have we heard from all of you? That USAPA had over 3000 members. When someone would point out the LM-2 filing showing only 2534 members we heard that those were old number.

Do the math from your own association. If 1963 members voted and that is 70% of your members that means only 2804 total USAPA members. 5200 pilots 2804 members. An earth shattering 54% of the US Airways pilots have joined the angry FO club. Adding only 280 additional members since June 30, 2008 from the LM-2 filing. That is pretty sad.

So can USAPA really say that they represent all of US Airways pilots when almost half are not members?

Anyone think that the company is willing to go along with a weak association and terminate 46% of the pilots?

I sorry I have to reply to this.

I fail to understand why the non dues paying pilots keep complaining. They think they are punishing the rest of us that pay dues faithfully.

How bout you all start paying dues and get involved in your union ,USAPA, and have your voice heard. You need to get some representation in PHX and LAS.

Just think you might have the power to change things with your numbers. Voting results would be interesting to say the least.

Remember a union starts with the membership and not its Leaders. The leaders will not listen to those that are not members. You all keep saying that Bradford does represent my interests. He has a duty to do what the membership tells him to do.

So ,Stop playing into the company and get involved in your union. The company loves this stuff. Can't you see that?.

I'm getting tired of this childish BS . We need a contract NOW.!!!!

3,412 members to be exact. Of course that includes some 600 west deadbeats not eligible to vote. Of thos ELIGIBLE, over 70% voted. In my 18 years in ALPO, I dont ever remember that high a %age ever voting, except on 2 contract alterations.

More spin, clear. Only 2804 dues-paying members eligible to vote. All 3 ballot items passed with 75 to 90% margins. Susie loophole is closed, Medical insurance for furlos and merger assessment passed. BPR then voted in all west pilots per the constitution, as amended. Now their heading to PHX for a base meeting. Members-in-good-standing only allowed. Kind of like the ALPO and most unions do metings? How can they hold a meeting if no West reps? thats been solved. Eat your hearts out, west, your got representation. As far as dues/agency fee, You pay or get fired. And we dont really care if you think thats sad or not.

So can USAPA really say that they represent all of US Airways pilots when almost half are not members?

USAPA represents those who pay their dues and want to be represented. Thats good enough for me.

Anyone think that the company is willing to go along with a weak association and terminate 46% of the pilots?

2 or 3 at a time, Clear. No more susie loophole. shes already been voted in as a member. No more technicalities to run by Hemenway. Your job, your call. snupe

Please stop with this foolish logic... You are upsetting the Westies.

I read that the union has removed the west "obstacle" in their desire to be represented...also, that their membership approval methods are now more streamlined.

I think thats fantastic, I'm so happy that PHX and LAS can be accomodated in their desire to become involved.

Yes. It's heartening to hear that the loophole is closed. The BPR now has full authority to approve memberships absent base pilots reps. All those PHX and LAS pilots who sent in their applications "in good faith " (ahem..) are now full fledged members and can confidently send their dues in.

Of course, now that their membership is official any lack of dues payment can have consequences. Can't be hiding under "Mommy" Hemenway's skirt anymore.

Well Jim, I guess that was kind of a compliment, but wouldn't it have been better to actually answer me? The cult comment was kind of name calling wasn't it? It's right up there with scab in my book. I didn't think name calling was allowed on this board. I expected better from you.

There are some on both sides that may be worthy of cult status, but most are just regular guys trying to get along in life.
