AFA labor discussion (Work related)

She lost the election fair and square twice. Now she's getting another shot because the AFA National didn't get the ballots out to all the transfered f/a's or so they said.




In spite of the fact that the dead line was delayed. Cathy pitched a fit...had a recount.And after the recount (lost) then went to the DOL


Reply: Recount what a joke. No recount was needed as it was challenged by numerous candidates instead. And the rest is well vindication that the election was not done correctly the first time.


The DOL didn't find that the local AFA office had run the election improperly. Nor did they discover that the AFA National had done anything wrong either....but because they are so very sensitive to making sure everything is on the up and up....they're having the election be rerun.


Reply: You have got to be kidding me. You want us to believe that the International is sensitive to making sure that anyone is getting their way. What a crock of crap. The union is not going to rerun an election based on being sensitive.....
The rerun is taking place because the DOL is forcing them to do so. The first election was not done right period!

And yes....I am aware that people had to make statements to DOL. And those statements have to be true. No lying...no fudging....you'd better have your stories straight because that's a Federal Offence. It's one of those things that would make me so upset...I'd be puking. Please Sarah you have definitely lost your perspective. I find it hard to believe that anyone especially Cathy would ever ask you to fly down to CLT to go (from your first post snoop) then this post go through documents at the LEC office. Cathy is not the type to ever ask nor expect someone to ever owe her anything much less ask you to fly down to CLT from PIT to snoop. I guess you have decided to help out by telling lies so that you could do Kim K. a favor which in turn would be a favor for MF and then in turn a favor for AC. No body cares how you would vote especially since you do not personally know Cathy and you do not have a vote in CLT. As for being elected to do something which again shows that you do not know of which you speak the reserve chair is not a postiion in which is an elected one. Cathy has helped myself and other flight attendants numerous times and never once has she ever asked anything of us.

There are only two parts of your post that are correct. First, my mistake in stating that RSV chair was an elected position. The second is that no, I have never met Cathy in person. However when I was thrown onto RSV as they were closing down the PIT base, I spent a lot of time on the phone with her. I admired her passion and at the time truly believed she'd be a good thing for the F/A group.

However, the rest of your post is crap. As far as me telling lies, Cathy DID ask me to fly from PIT to CLT to go through records for her because Ann had thrown her out of the office and she was barred from doing any more union work. I thought the whole idea was ludicrious, asked her to find a CLT F/A to do it for her, she told me I "OWED HER" and that was the last we spoke. She contacted me last year and asked if I would support her in the election and I declined. I just couldn't see supporting her if she was keeping tabs on what she had done for people in the past. If you don't believe me, then ask Cathy. If she denies it then she is the one who is telling lies.

Last thing, Kim K. can hold her own~~~I don't need to do Kim a favor to help Mike to help Ann. If you go back to my original post I stated that while I am not a fan of Anns I would be very careful putting Cathy in to office because of the above noted experience I had with her. It's my personal opinion that there should be term limits on officer positions so that those in positions of power do not get too comfortable where they are. However, sometimes the alternative like Cathy is not the answer.

You obviously are either high or just plain ignorant as to what the DOL does and the seriousness of the fact of the DOL going in on an election challenge. As I said previously you need to educate yourself on what actually is needed and what takes place and what is needed for there to be a rerun before you state someone got a freebie.
Not sure what you are referring to with the puke statement. If you are referring to the fact that it is a Federal Offense to lie to a Federal Investigator then you are correct. I know that I have stated the truth and the Investigator has verified my statement.

Pretty easy to tell if someone did not receive a ballot. That is why we are getting to vote again. The rerun was for the President position. All candidates who ran the first time are able to run again. Hum.....ALL CANDIDATES WHO RAN THE FIRST TIME ARE ABLE TO RUN AGAIN......

So no the Federal Government does not order a new election based on sensitivity of the challengers or anyone else. Please educate yourself.

Your statement is false and you need to just deal with issues in PHL. Fashion aside, in the end it does not matter. It does not matter if a fit was tossed, someone missed a meeting, or there was a hanging chad. The fact will remain that the department of labor has ruled that a new election will take place. Now, hopefully everyone that is eligible to vote will. The outcome might not be what a particular party wanted, but should at least be done fairly. I would think that both parties in the end would be pleased as there should be no room for an argument about the elections legitimacy.

AGREED. Cathy C is NOT the ANSWER...........and many people have spoken in her repeated FAILURE at the ballot box. Her militant ex-Eastern attitude and condescending overtures really turns MANY People off. If the Membership is Looking at getting a NEW Contract, it WILL NOT happen with Cathy at the helm.............she will be so INEFFECTIVE because the other Officers (not Up for Recall) will not really be working WITH Her. CC is a very passionate person ON Some Issues but strikes Me as borderline UNSTABLE. Very difficult to work with and Overly Aggressive in the Customer Service aspect of The Job............in otherwords "there Is ALWAYS an Issue, always a DRAMA, always an opportunity for HER to show Her Arsce". People better be VERY WEARY of Casting a Ballot the Way of Her...............She is NOT what We Want and Sure as Hell N-O-T what We Need. TRUST ME. Member of council 89 here. Ann had her chance and has done nothing. She needs to go and my vote will be to replace her with Cathy C. I know what I got with Ann C- like someone in another post stated, name one thing Ann has done on the mec to better us as a whole? Forgot her inept local skills just name me one great leadership undertaking or moment where she moved to improve our lives? Then again, she didn't even respond to the 1549 incident.

We all get it. Actually more and more people get it more than ever. As for Cathy, I'd vote her in over Anne any day. STILL nobody can say a word as to what Anne has done on the MEC level for the membership. Not one thing. Cathy may not be the answer but in this case I'd choose the devil I don't know over the one I do know. Regardless, on the LEC and MEC level change will happen. Sometimes change isn't swift but change will happen here.
