AFA labor discussion (Work related)

Management doesn't care what the customer thinks about their beverage be it in a cup or a glass. They don't think it matters to them so why should it matter to YOU. This management circus doesn't care what the employee thinks about their work environment nor do they care about our constant "whining" for change. Cheap and lowering the bar goes WAY beyond "the cup" in first class but it's a prime example of just what is acceptable to them. Tacky, unprofessional and ignorance topped off with pure disdain for anything customer or employee related seems to sum them up pretty good. 😉

I agree with everything you just said. Don't forget though that there is power in a plastic cup. It is called getting you focused on all these seemingly meaningless things taking you away from all the important ones. All these little snafu's get some people off track. Get enough people off track in your work group and a major derailment is sure to take place. Meanwhile, back in the circus ring your ringmaster has closed yet another section of your contract. His excuse, Nobody said anything to him about it so all is good! You are right. At this point you should not be worried about something beyond your contract. But alas, that is human nature. Your company exploits the fact that most employees have a conscience.

Speaking of "staying focused" I think we're more focused than EVER with our contract and the local level AFA that keeps Mike and JNC right where they are. If we can't get change at the top we'll start at the bottom and DEMAND the change the majority wants. Plastic cups be damned. YES everyone....VOTE! ! ! !

As for closed sections and nobody saying anything, they cannot hear what we are saying if they refuse to listen to us.

BREAKING NEWS***BREAKING NEWS THIS IS A SPECIAL REPORT! Why not give John McCorkle a call and express your displeasure with Mike and Carol because I heard he is 100% CONVINCED that the majority support them. Ask him why he voted for them. We hear gossip and rumors here so set it straight and give John a call. True? Yep you heard it here and it's no BS. Give him a call and let him know just how you feel in regards to the two of them. He believes this recent recall attempt will be turned over and nothing will happen due to flight attendants "not knowing" what they were signing. Ummmm how many times can someone use that excuse? I have NEVER in my life saw an individual in office at AFA more delusional than this man. It's unreal.

You make a very good point. My view is they are listening and hearing exactly what you are saying. They just refuse to acknowledge your legitimate concerns. They are definitely listening though.

Received mine-mailed in last week! Here's hoping for change!
Just Don't Vote for the Soup Lady. 🙄 Talk about a "Born Again Idiot". If THAT is What You are looking for IN CHANGE.............Be Careful What You Wish For!

I did not receive a ballot. so I contacted someone at the DOL since they are handling the vote for council 89. Turns out the Union's address is a year old (though I updated it a year ago) They "say" its supposed to be your most current employer address .. that was correct. Got it in a day.

If anyone did not get one and do not have the name at DOL pm me. Don't want to leave it out here publicly.

I am kind of changing the subject here....

I was looking at base transfers for the month of March for Flt Attendants and noticed that the group that just came back and have a new hire date of 1-9-11 have what appears to be their original employee number. Example transferring from CLT to PHL one f/a # starts w/ 159..., the next one 471..., and finally 87......
Did I hear correctly or (incorrectly) that the f/a's coming back as new hires status after taking the buyout would have new employee numbers to reflect that?

We all were hoping, however, the active RSV lists shows their original employee #. So I printed the RSV list for when they became active (01/16)

Ultimately, what WILL happen is maybe one or two may try to use their old number to their advantage (ie, taking A Position or J/S though we are "supposed" to show J/S cards, not many GAs ask for it)

If my pairing shows reserves flying, I always just check screen 18 for seniority numbers, not so much to check other people but also to see if I'm goiing to have any choice as to position.
Checking for jumpseat is going to be a little more tricky. F/a's are supposed to be listed even if they take js. I also check S3 to see where I fall on that list. If I am most senior I assume I will have a shot at js if needed, but this could be an issue.
I willl make sure I get a name to check seniority if I think something's not kosher. I don't mind losing but I like everyone to play by the rules.

Listen, most will be honest. It's the very few that will try some silly crap. I will first ask for their SIDS card. They can not produce it before position selection- a call goes in via me to crew scheduling. Right in front of them. I will ask them one last time, should I continue down this road or what is your adjusted seniority? That will be RARE guys. That said, they should have gotten new hire employee #'s.

Unlike other VF's those coming back from VFLR should have received new employee numbers to reflect this as they are now considered new hires. I don't care if you flew for 25 years and are now a "re-tread" as one women called herself in the latest screw news session. They are considered NEW and should have a NEW number to reflect it. Is anyone seriously surprised by this? Oh and what is the deal with some of those from the VFLR? They wanted to give the money back, have their seniority adjusted for travel, etc. You signed a damn agreement, took a 10k payment and hit the trail running. The recession tanked, some realized they made a mistake, etc but NOW all of the sudden want changes? They want to unsign their name from the very agreement they signed? I seldom agree with what the company does but Hector told the guy in the latest CLT screw news that they had three chances to say NO. It was pretty cut and dry. 🙄
