AFA labor discussion (Work related)

I have a question for you Flybynite. How do you explain fiscal responsibility for a base who's local office is $21,000.00+ over budget? The membership spoke with the votes, that's pretty plain and simple yet we go round and round. We had almost 200 proxies that didn't have a body to take them into the meeting and look at how overwhelming the vote was without them. If the local officers are so concerned about the $10,000.00 they would step down in light of their recall and save the membership their dues. So ANYWAY! ! ! ! ! Would they agree to that? NOPE ! ! ! ! They instead are going to fight and scratch at the eyes of the very membership that recalled them. I'm so sick and tired of this type of AFA business. The tone of the officers voices toward the membership during their recall meeting said enough. What they need to do is be respectful of their members and honorably step down. Damn it already. ENOUGH! ! ! !

I don't know why your budget is in the red. This makes it worse. And if I read the e-line correctly, this will delay your regular election process. Why delay that?

If the officers would step down RIGHT NOW we wouldn't have to deal with this and spend money. BUT because they are ticked off at the membership now, they're gonna make us pay. It's as simple as that. SO though it may make it worse it will be union dues well spent. Hell I'll pay up the extra $5.00 now. As for the election, those running are known so run the election and allow the newly elected officials to take office early. Do you think the recalled officers went for that? Again NOPE! ! ! So WE the dues paying members are to be the ONLY ONES who care about this 10k? I don't think so....GET THE HELL OUT OF OFFICE!

Who's running for office?

I wasn't talking about you. Omar and Grace are both running from the VERY office they are being recalled from. Running for higher seats than currently held I might add.

Sounds like you might have struck a nerve Travelpro and someone might have outed themselves!

The bottom line is this. The meeting had an overwhelming turnout and the numbers speak for themselves. There was a box at the meeting with a few hundred proxies in them with nobody to vote on their behalf so go ahead and send the ballots out. The results will be just as clear. The officers should simply step down and bow out with some grace. They are scorned and bruised by what happened and willl now SHOW YOU..... they'll waste your dollars on the recall. PHL should just run the election and allow those voted in to start their term early. PERIOD! ! ! !

Not to thread hijack, but just a quick question??? Why would the AFA not send anyone to the new hire classes that are going on in PHX??? Would imagine that someone should have at least shown up and said hi?

Any of those names sound familiar? Hmmmmm! Running from the VERY office you're being recalled from.

Looking at that list I hope everyone realises that one of the people running for president (LC) and one that is running for VP (RW) were LECPs in office in other bases in 2006 and they voted YES to give our profit sharing to the West side.
That's a fact and something they can't run from. I know they won't have my vote!

Try to grow... try very hard...you are no longer an immature infant that lives on rules of "mine" . Please do realize that West flight attendants also contributed to the companies overall profits. Sounds as though you would bring back slavery if you could so long as you have "what's yours".

I do not believe anyone has a problem with west flight attendants. The overall concern is that the profit sharing was a CONTRACTUAL item that was put in place to supposedly make up for all the bankruptcy concessions. It was yet another slap in the face to the east flight attendants. Your union leadership once again circumnavigated the process and the east got nothing in return for it. This is not against the west flight attendant in any way, shape, or form.

I think everyone understands what you are saying. What happens here is that it becomes an argument not much different than the pilot issue. It is an argument that can not be won as in the eyes of both sides they feel they are right. I think the energy that is being used for this argument can be put toward your leadership that should have never put you in the position to argue the matter to begin with.

You have a tough road ahead by what people are saying of those running. Same people washing ashore to run for the office in Philly from what I gather. Hope once that gets figured out and the west has there elections the two groups can come together and represent ALL flight attendants interests. One thing is for sure. You can not take yur eyes off any leader that gets elected for one moment or it will be status quo after a couple weeks.
