AFA labor discussion (Work related)

To me, your theory seems flawed. If so many were so fed up with "the BS of the Whole Witch Hunt!", one would think they would be voting against the recall in droves.

Must've been something else.

They were Swindled into signing it! Don't seem to be Voting in "Droves" to Actually Recall though now do they? 27% WOW..If thats your definition of "Droves"!!

 Witchhunt? More like "buh- bye"....,

The recall of the LEC President was 343 votes FOR recall and 308 AGAINST recall.
The recall of the LEC Vice President was 350 votes FOR recall and 301 AGAINST recall.
The recall of the LEC Secretary was 336 votes FOR recall and 312 AGAINST recall.

You LEC officers are recalled as of today. MEC President Mike Flores will call a special meeting of the MEC for tomorrow, Friday, April 1 and the voting members of the MEC (CLT and DCA LEC Presidents) will select your new Council temporary officers.

There were 1,947 eligible voters and only 651 people voted, or 33% of the base.

If you need assistance, please call the MEC office in CLT at 704-919-1732

You missed my point. Re- read what I wrote.

Again, if *so many* were fed up with this "witch hunt" you speak of, then why didn't they rally and vote AGAINST the recall, instead of sitting on the sidelines? Why weren't they in the crew room next to the others talking and telling their side? By your theory, this recall should've been VOTED DOWN by a wide margin if so many are fed up with the "witch hunt".

Were you in the crew room, day in and day out, defending Council 70? Were you at the recall meeting, or any of the LEC meetings, standing up for Council 70? Why didn't you mobilize people to be in the crew room right behind the others to give out the correct information, that this was all a "witch hunt"? Seems to me you're pretty passionate; did you volunteer off time to defend Council 70 in the crew rooms? This recall effort has been going on since last summer, and I never saw anyone pushing for Council 70 in either crew lounge in PHL. Not one person.

Maybe I just missed them?

I can't remember when my hard earned dues money was spent on a better cause. Bravo! OUT with the old and in with the new. With what I've seen lately the flight attendants ARE taking control. What this will show the company is we are united, strong and WILL NOT back down. Those we put in office will be tougher to deal with than what we've seen. ADIOS! ! ! !

It seems that the US F/A's are FIRED UP!!! The MEC(s) should take note, and be careful of sending out a sub-par contract to the membership for ratification. AND, Scottie and DWI-Doug should take note as well .... I don't expect that this F/A group (East AND West) will settle for a contract that does not acknowledge our past sacrifice and current value.

33% of the whole based voted, not thrilled with the turnout however the MAJORITY wanted change. Change it is.

Well PHLfa88 it seems that those that DIDN'T want the recall held out from voting as well. Where are all those supporters hmmmmmm? The membership spoke. Moving right along...... 😀

The best $ 10,000.00 spent by the PHL Council in the last 3 years. PHLfa88 if you ever got through Economics 101 you would realize that spending $ 10,000.00 to remove these bandits is money well spent. I suppose you are comfortable with an administration who has been OVER BUDGET each of the last 3 years. With your philosophy you feel your members should have left them in office to spend another $17,000.00 each month of their remaining term to pass out fortune cookies on UNION $$$$$. Wake up and smell the coffee PHLfa88. We recognized the need to remove our former LEC pres and your members are starting to realize your Council officers have been raping your union dues for the last 3 years and NOW you are just starting to worry about wasting money? Justice was served today!!!!!!!! Kudos to those who took the bull by the horns. My only criticism is they should have done it 2 years ago. You have had an absentee president up there for the last 2 years leaving the NUTS to run the assylum. You dont want to come here telling us about wasting money. As Travelpro would say "moving along".

While certainly no mandate was seen here, the 33% that did take the time to vote have spoken. Interestingly even within the 33% there was no landslide with any of the members of the council. I still believe this is the core problem with your membership. You really need to figure out why 67% did not even take the time to cast a ballot. You had quite a long time frame to do so and appears they gave info to those that lost, misplaced, or did not receive their ballot how to have a alternate way of taking care of it.

I think this needs to be your focus. Until you can get more members involved in the process there really is no true unity. Reality is that any leader is required to listen to all members in good standing whether they vote or not. You will never get 100% participation but with 33% there is definitely a problem somewhere. Your voting history has been this way for a long time so this is no surprise.

I hope now you can continue the momentum forward toward your goal of a livable contract for all US Airways flight attendants. Your work is far from over.

We will see with up coming elections..HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?

We will see with up coming elections..HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM?

You still have yet to respond to my questions: Were you offering your free time to defend Council 70 in the crew rooms behind the people conducting the "witch hunt"? Were you in the crew lounges volunteering and defending, correcting those with whom you disagreed? Did you stand up at the Recall Meeting and defend Council 70 officers? Did you defend them at any of the LEC meetings in PHL last year?

I can't recall one person coming up to me in the crew lounges in defense of the Council. I can recall seeing one of the petition pushers each and every time I flew.

PHLfa88 you like to shoot your trap off here left and right and blast ME for it but you NEVER answer tough questions. You have done NOTHING to help those that are now recalled....N-O-T-H-I-N-G ! ! ! ! ! !

As for why the turnout was low and there wasn't a landslide. Well, it was twofold actually in that many were exhausted and over the whole recall business as everyone was hit with petition after petition in the crew room. Then you had some that didn't want to spend the money to recall when the regular election is around the corner. To those that are concerned or ticked off about their dues being wasted, call John and ask about the 21K the union is in the hole for. In fact, the union has been in the red for quite some time now. Oh wait, you call the office now and they will probably tell you it's closed.

I'm willing to bet the regularly scheduled council 70 election will have a much bigger turnout.
