AFA labor discussion (Work related)

Typical response from you! Kim and Rick are the Best from this Voting..I heard that Lynn is mulling a Recall! Really>? What Ever!!

And Why do you Care? Your No longer here!!
She's cranked because her two buddies did not make it in to office. She supported them and no one paid attention......... 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁 🙁

Terry was CLEARLY the better candidate in this race. She also won without the help of two idiots running around bothering flight attendants in gate areas, elevators and crew rooms. Terry not only won but won by a landslide. What on Earth would Lynn have to warrant a recall? She is looking like a fool and should focus and collect that energy and put it to good use HELPING the newly elected officers of Local 70. She is turning out to be a sore loser. Well she can look in the mirror and know that she did it to herself. Again, she had two freaks who were trying to vote for individuals and botching the election in my opinion. The ENTIRE group that won are there for a reason....protection of the membership and restoration of a strong local office and they are HONEST! ! It's been a long road but Local 70 has arrived and the MEC will be changing. Congratulations to all who won and thank you for running a clean campaign. Those that didn't win cough, cough (LYNN) direct your anger towards positive work for the membership since you're so "passionate" about the local ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Totally Agree Travel!! 😉

As a customer I've been well served by 99.8% of you. There is ONE incident that still has me annoyed but honestly, one incident in 10 years hardly counts. During the last ten years I've had to pleasure to meet many members who are active in the union. Some in leadership roles. I offer this unsolicited advice.

Here is the reality. In order for AFA to have a chance at winning meaningful contract enhancements is to appear united in every aspect. I'm telling you the Company is drooling over the fractured nature of the AFA. NO ONE comes into a leadership role without flaws and things you don't like. Get over it.

For there is to be any success the union must in fact be a union speaking with one common voice for all members. The AFA has to make Tempe think that Chaos and a full blown strike are in their future if they fail to provide significant enhancements to the status quo. They understand dollars and cents. Show them what a strike will cost versus a good contract.

This is not accomplished with recalls and retreads. It's accomplished with those who have a single purpose and that purpose is fight like crazy for the rank & file. ALL of the rank & file, not any one group internally. If you want more of the same? Keep the bickering and recalls going and 5 years from now you'll be earning the same money as you are now.

Good luck

You are absolutely correct but if you're highest official doesn't have what is believed by most of the membership to be their best interest, how can we NOT recall him? He listens to nobody, closes sections without input from the membership, tLks down to you when you challenge his ideas or direction. Recalling Mike and let us not forget his ladybug wearing sidekick is what needs to be done. The flight attendants are cleaning house. Management take notice because your flight attendants are pissed.

I hear what you're saying. However there is a saying in Drag Racing that applies. At some point you have to "Run What Ya Broung" and go racing. Also have you ever considered that you could make those who don't seem to have your best wish they'd be recalled. I've seen workgroups drive a boss into resigning and it isn't that hard to do.

I do not believe any rational person here would disagree with what you are saying. There is one small problem with that analogy. If you ever have a chance to be a winning team you must indeed speak with one voice. All member of the team need to be on the same page when it comes to the vehicle and how it operates. You should be making little adjustments to your vehicle right up till you line up at the Christmas tree! The crew chief (Mr. Flores) is telling the driver, it doesn't get any better than this and we need to "run what ya brung". This is not because they did everything they could to the vehicle. This is because they have a different agenda than the rest of the team. Any good driver would recognize there is a problem with the team and act accordingly. If you keep showing up to the track with a vehicle that does not perform up to its potential you will never be a winning team. You can not just talk with one voice, you must act with one voice as well. The driver in this case has finally figured out the problem was not them or the vehicle, but rather the crew chief. You can't act as one when your crew chief is sabotaging every race.

I think they are clearing the track now for exactly what you are saying. They have already asked the chief to resign and they won't go willingly. Although they are going the long way around they are now positioning themselves to replace them one way or the other. This is where I hope their planning does not fall through. If they have chosen the right local mechanics they should see action on getting the crew chief to leave willingly or otherwise very soon.

Some may disagree with the choices that have been made. You will never agree 100% on everything. What you do need is to allow the newly elected people a chance to do the right thing. As you said the only way that the company is going to take them seriously is to speak with one voice. Until the crew chief goes that is all but impossible as I see it.

I have to defer to your assessment as you're on the inside and I'm not. To be brutally frank my interest is purely selfish. I want happy, smiling people who are happy to come to work taking care of me. I don't want to hear the grousing in the F galley on the way to the lav. I don't want my pre departure beverage skipped. The only way I know to accomplish this is to have well paid people who are motivated to do well and going the extra mile is their expectation of themselves. This will never happen in my lifetime if the AFA doesn't pull their head out of their ass NOW

Sorry Charlie, I'll always care.

I put 25 years in the company and you betcha, I care. Kim and Rick obviously are who the PHL f/as wanted to win, and that is what democracy is all about. Wouldn't be my choice as I have been pretty much in every seat on the local and MEC level, and I know what the job, duties, commitment is all about! And I've worked with every single person except Rick that is now the new PHL local.

BTW, you are wrong about Lynne. There is no recall of pHL reps, so get over yourself, already.

We shall see how the group will work on the MEC level. There are hundreds of f/as all over the system that are waiting for a recall on the MEC level , if theydon't get it, I doubt they will trust this new MEC either.

I voted for Obama and was sure of my vote...but as time went on, I became less and less enchanged. Folks have the right to change their mind, regardless of the initial support and the desire and hope for change.

Folks can talk the talk, but let's see if they can walk the walk...
Time will tell now won't it.

Hey, just an fyi for the future, I didn't make the PIT party this year.... heard you missed me, it was quite a campaign from what I heard...but there's B) next year, see you then.

The good news is that people have slowly started to wake up. Of course your voter participation has remained a sticking point to real change. I hope that the voter participation was better this time around. I wonder as nobody has posted the numbers here yet. Seems "someone in the know" would have posted that here pretty quickly if they were high. Hopefully someone will share anyway.

Here it is:

Top 2 in each position & the votes for each
President: TG w/ 372 votes; LC 208
VP: KK w/420; RW 306
Sec/Treas: ME w/398; DS 360
Council Rep (2) elected so I'll list top 4:
RC 698, PH 522,
LR 211, BB 202.

There were 1969 eligible voters, for which 946 cast ballots, representing 48.0% of the eligible voters.
There were 13 ballots declared void.

TG with a convincing near 2 to 1 margin of victory over the next closest candidate.

Almost 50% turn out.

Pretty convincing victory with a larger than normal turnout.

All adds up to a mandate.

50% turnout is the biggest I remember since I've been on the boards. Sounds like the times they are a changin'

Thanks for posting the numbers. Looks a little better. Still room for improvement but it is a promising improvement. Still 52% didn't bother for one reason or another. This is one of the things that need some work. If you have that kind of turnout for any tentative agreement it will be very sad to say the least. I guess first order of business will be a change of the guard at the MEC and JNC. If this does not happen you all can consider yourself punked! There should be no excuses now as you now have "new" leadership in all your bases. We shall soon see where everyone's loyalties rest. Are they with the ringleader? Or are they with the best interest of ALL flight attendants?

Of course I knew you wouldn't be there. Who do you think responded to your RSVP and said they hoped you would have a nice time on your visit with your granddaughter?? See, I do have a nice side
Hope you can make the party next year. That's the beauty of having hundreds of people in a room. You show up and we won't even have to speak to each other....see you then !!

PIT had a > 48% turnout in their local election in July 2000. I know, I ran for it.
