AFA labor discussion (Work related)

Well here we go again. Just check out option 18 on catcrew and see where our Sec/Treas. gets to put his AFA days. You guessed it right smack in the middle of days on duty. Is our new LEC Pres. aware of this? Is this the change we were looking for? One can only guess what else is goin on.
I'm confused. Do you think he should be working in the AFA office on his OFF days?? It doesn't work that way. He is still entitled to the 11 days off per month that the contract allows. Nice try at a cheap shot but you're way off the mark. They are all flying and not collecting full AFA pay which is more than I can say for the last groups of hoopies that were in there.
 
Being recessed by the mediator is a WIN for the company while the f/a group sits for the period with NO negotiations at all and nothing to vote on. The mediator also MOST CERTAINLY can refuse closed sections to be opened. The mediator is there not to negotiate for the union or company and that is correct but he IS there to make sure it moves along. Flores and Austin WILL be replaced. Make no mistake about it but they are not going to be replaced now. There is a lot that can and can't be said but to believe that Terry Graff or Cathy Cambell support Mike or are afraid to take on the task of removing him isn't true. There is a process that should be followed to protect the will of the membership. The union got their ducks in a row within their locals. NOW is not the time to "shoot from the hip" if you will.
Hello, sorry for the long absence but I would like to interject something if I could. I agree that there are rules to follow in recall situations. And, yes, MF & CA will most probably be replaced in the future.
I disagree that mediation is a win for the Company. Quite the opposite. This mediation, and the fact that we're negotiating under section 6, finally gives the Union some leverage. Now, there is real pressure on the Company to budge from their archaic philosophy of under pay = bigger CEO bonuses.
What we need to understand is that this divisiveness regarding the union stops now. Now is the time to be "UNIFIED". We all want the same thing, right? A good contract. Well, let the negotiators do their job and then we'll do ours. That means vote. Yes, No just vote. We have the power in that one simple task. The negotiators have the power to get a TA. WE have the power to ratify or not.

The old "Don't Cut Your Nose Off..." adage. Keep them in, support them in their job, and then exercise your vote!
On a different note:
I also don't believe in the "30 Day Free Trial" attitude that is running rampant around here. Let's see, you have a recall, rerun, etc and within 30 days decide you're angry with them and don't like them? Want to trade them in? Give me a break! You bought it, it's yours! Nobody can straighten out the messes that were in place in such a short period. Don't like how they perform...vote them out at the end of their term. It's that simple.

The problem with the naysayers and dividers as far as I see it is that, even amongst yourselves, you can't agree with what you don't like.
 
As much as this seems like it could be plausible there is good reason to be skeptic as well. An airline employee reminded me of the fact that slapping a flight attendant would be a federal offense that could lead to a felony conviction. If convicted, it would bar said person by law from working for a company in the aviation industry. This is assuming that the charge was interference with a crew member. I am not sure how the law would work in other possible charges.

Also, if true there is no way they could quiet the whole crew on such an incident. Someone will eventually talk. The company would have a lot of questions to answer at that point. For instance, was there any pressure by anyone within the company for the flight attendant to not file charges? What flight attendant in their right mind would not file charges anyway? Even if no charges were filed and it happened it most certainly would be a violation of quite a few work and conduct rules in which the company would be obligated to do something about.


Not saying it did not happen. If it is true something will eventually have to surface. Maybe a press release stating that said person is " leaving to spend more time with the family and is pursuing other opportunities."

Today I received several texts and e-mails indicating that the rumor may well have some truth to it. Since they were from several sources I need time to sift through it all and determine what the appropriate response should be. Right now there is a great deal of smoke and precious little fire. But you know how that saying goes.

Right now I'd like to see more facts or at least more anecdotal information. Put another way, I have enough for an indictment but not a conviction. If I go public I want the conviction. IOW evidence that is as irrefutable as possible.

No one who has sent me stuff on the down low has ever had so much as their middle initial disclosed, much less anything that would jeopardize a job.. If you know something and want to share reach out, as there are ways to connect that are untraceable.

I don't want to assassinate anyone's character so the "I's" have to be doted and "T's" crossed or this thing goes into the dust bin.
 
Crew News session in CLT tomorrow at 11:30. I have heard it could be exciting. All flight attendants who are not flying should try to attend. Strength in numbers. I know a group from DCA is planning to attend.

Yeah, strength in numbers but who's going to ask Doug the hard question about another executives alleged conduct. I'd ask but I'm not an employee. Flight attendants system wide need to unite. You are in a good position to get a better deal, the more united you are as a group the better the potential deal.

I've been told that your old pay Jerry Glass is back on the scene. Generally speaking NOT good news. He is a formidable adversary, but not unbeatable, especially if he thinks you're ready willing and able to turn US into the next EAL.

What this gentleman tells you is that Jerry Glass is the Enemy. Ron Harbison, Al Hemmingway and the entire Labor Relations Department will say anything, Do anything, Say anything and operate outside the law in many cases.

RECESSED mediation!
Well, unless something has happened in the last 24 hours that I am not aware of, this is not true. The company and the union are in direct negotiations under a mediator. Granted, the West [i]had been [/i]recessed when we started negotiating a single agreement but now the negotiations are ACTIVE. They have met continuously for the last month (check your JNC & MEC elines) and continue to do so.
Folks, staying informed with the facts and not rumors or hearsay is the only way to be unified.
Once again, sign up for elines, stay tuned for updates. You are only as strong as your knowledge.
I repeat, unless something has happened in the last 24 hours, we have not been "recessed." As of this post, there has not been an eline or update stating differently.

I would like to hope that it is not true as any possible abuse whether physical or verbal is unacceptable behavior by anyone let alone the president of your company. However, if anything did happen I only wish the truth comes out. With rumors we know that the smallest of ant hills get turned into impassable peaks sometimes. No matter what may or may not have happened I just hope that they can be honest and up front about the situation. I also hope that if something did take place that the person responsible can take responsibility for their actions.

I guess we should know soon.

That is correct...we have NOT been recessed. We last met with the company at the beginning of June in SEA. We are scheduled again to meet in "mediation" the week
of July 18th in CLT.

Apparently 3 months is too long to have new PHL officers.

If anyone has info on who and why has started a recall effort in PHL I would appreciate it.

I sure would like to know on what grounds this recall is being tried. The office is being run more effiently than ever and those in office are "doing their J-O-B". What on Earth is this for YES....who is starting it? Let me guess. Their initials begin with L or J? Please. 🙄 Be happy you have TG in there as she is there for a reason and ONE reason only, to protect and stand up for the flight attendants of Philadelphia. I did hear right after the election results were out that a certain someone who didn't win was going to try to recall. Give me a break. :lol:
 
Not even 3 months more like 1 1/2 🙄 Same group that lost and had their base closed still trying to get in. Just having the usual people out pounding the pavement for them. The people I know in PHL are ready to tear them a new one if they even get near them, I know I would. People here in CLT even are talking about how much they read what the new group up there is putting out. Nice to have someone talking with us instead of at us. If I were them I would say hey you think you are so great you do it. Those people are there because they want to be not because they have to.

WHAT ? a recall ? That's nuts. If either one of those goofy "sign my petition" pushy F/As...yes, ladies you know who you are....comes up to me in the crew room I'm going straight to the desk and reporting on the job harrassment. I'm so sick of sore losers.
