necigrad and rogue,

· The Parties agree that non-contract West Employees in LAS and PHX who are performing normal and customary tower work will be assigned to the US Airways Fleet Service Lead Agent classification under Article 4 of the existing IAM CBA and will be given a Fleet Service Classification date the same as listed in the “adjusted seniority date fieldâ€￾ in the America West’s Human Resources Information System and verified by the Union. Future tower vacancies which the company decides to fill in PHL, CLT, LAS and PHX will be filled through a company selection process. In the event of a reduction in force these Employees will be subjected to Article 9 of the 2005 Agreement.

Non-Contract West Employees in PHX who are performing normal and customary weight and balance work will be assigned to the US Airways Fleet Service Agent classification under Article 4 of the existing IAM CBA and will be given a Fleet Service Classification date the same as listed in the “adjusted seniority date fieldâ€￾ in the America West’s Human Resources Information System and verified by the Union.

This is right out of the TA. Our hands are tied to some degree because certain things were agreed to in negotiations. However, I will still make sure to the best of my ability that everything is done fair within our boundaries.

P. Rez,

That is only part of the problem. The major problem is going to occur when high seniority West agents are placed on the seniority list ahead of East agents that were hired before they were.

Example;

1. East agent hired parttime 12/1/87, goes fulltime 12/1/93. Gets a new seniority date of approximately 12/1/90, and loses three years of seniority.
2. West agent hired parttime or fulltime on 12/1/88, keeps their original date and is placed on the seniority list ahead of someone that was hired a year before they were.

If we don't go to a strict DOH seniority system there is going to be a lot of problems that are going to occur, not to mention the animosity among the players.

Pat, it doens't say when that information is applies. Demand the changes be made and THEN look at what the system says. If they make the changes before the senority list is published then it's within the scope of the TA. With my suggestion we're not looking to gut them out of senority, just adjust it to only what they've worked as FS.

You know what? I'm going to add my last 2 cents and that will be the end of it for me. The contract says " classification seniority "
How in the world can you gain automatic classification seniority. If that is considererd an exception, then lets make an exception for the agents that have different seniority dates from past practices and give them their date of hire back!!!!!!

I have never gone p/t just for that reason. When furloughs came I moved. I could afford to but some people couldn't...........
So they were penalized for it. So whats good for the goose is good for the gander, as they say. If you were not in this classification, then your entry date is your date of hire. If you get your company date of hire for your classification date then lets give it to all and make things right!!!!!!!!!!!!!............Pat...........are you listening?

The issue of seniority integration during negotiations fell on deaf ears both on this forum and within the negotiation committee. Joe Dirt brought up the issue so many times and the issue kept dying because it was labeled as east vs. west. The tower/clp seniority integration was part of that because there were three distinct groups that were being integrated in three different ways. Mary and Ron would not move on this during negotiations as MF from CLT attempted to deal with the issue. A huge percentage of CLT fleet signed a petition stating that they wanted the seniority issue moved upon. Canale didn't want to hear about. He and the Grand Lodge reps were very ambiguous about the integration process and stated that the integration committee that P REZ was part of had already decided how seniority integration would be accomplished.

PHL and CLT were not represented within this committee so the two most outspoken Hubs were kicked to the curb. No one here wanted to debate this issue. The Agreement has past been signed. I'm sorry to say that there are few to no options on changing the issue unless we again merge with another airline. It is what it is.

Thanks. As I said, this doesn't apply to me, but RC has left his mark on us in so many ways. I guess in the end it was about
apeasement. Each trying to protect their own. My 2 cents was worth just that then and so we move on.........The future is ours.....so lets make it work .........together.......THE END!

Good to see PHL and CLT represented at these discussions.
These two stations alone counted for close to 1400 votes
for the New Direction and the IAM looks the other way.....

Randy can not leave fast enough...........

P.Rez, good luck and I hope you have a voice. Wait til
you meet some of these so called union guys..........

When the seniority list comes out, and some get DOH and some don't we will be in court with an arbitrator. I'm tired of being trucked by unfair grassholes that don't care about the team. You can't be fair to a portion of the workforce, you have to be fair to the whole workforce. A prime example of being unfair is why canale got his ass voted out. TAKE HEED!

The only thing we ever accomplished to date was that AWA employees wouldn't be stapled to bottom of the list. Tower work had not even been brought up because it wasn't negotiated yet.

I D I O T ! !

Don't you read the fine print before you sign ....The company pays the pension...............Fight it because you know why ur doing so....................TYPICALLY........................" Over opinionated and under informed "

YAWN …..

Ok then , why is the union raising our dues ? They had better have one hell of a reason to raise union dues … one of the guys on here made a very important point about this recession …. Now is NOT the time to raise our dues … in fact I’d much prefer that our leadership structure take pay cuts before we come out of pocket .
