"Under the proposal, American and US Airways would sell 104 takeoff and landing slots at Reagan National Airport in Washington, 34 slots at La Guardia Airport in New York, and various assets at five other airports, including O’Hare Airport in Chicago, Los Angeles International Airport and Boston Logan International Airport."

It does appear that DC was the pig to be slaughtered for "pork" here.

Time for the weekly dig at our fast moving, decisive and proactive BPR. The BPR announced that they will hold a phone conference on Nov 15 to discuss submitting the union's amicus in the DOJ lawsuit.

They might consider moving that schedule considerably sooner, as in rapido speedo.

Hearing 52 slot pairs at DCA, 17 at LGA.
2 Gates each at BOS, ORD, DAL, LAX, MIA
Maintain hubs consistent with historical ops for 3 years at JFK, LAX, MIA, ORD, CLT, PHL, PHX
8 of the 52 slot pairs will be sold (Jetblue) the rest surrendered to the DOJ.
Commuter slots at DCA will still serve small-medium cities.

"the rest surrendered to the DOJ" One can only wonder who's worthless pockets will fill from this theft.

I thought you said the merger is dead. It's not the merger but USAPA which is near death. Buh-bye fake union.
Wrong as usual, those easties are the Washington Generals of predictions.

Good-Bye U.S Airways

Somehow I think you have the very misinformed notion that ALL east pilots will mourn the loss of US Airways and/or USAPA.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  As a former Piedmonster, it has been quite a nightmare since 1987 when Ed Colodny pulled the rug out from under us.  Many will be delighted to NOT have to retire as a US Airways pilot.

Surely, there are the original US Air people who will regret seeing the name go.  I understand that and honor those sentiments; I just do not share them.

I imagine the same goes for USAPA.  While it held much promise after managing to kick ALPA to the gutter, in many ways it has not lived up to the promise of a union responsible to the line pilots.  Rather, just like ALPA, it ended up more about "kingdom building" at HQ than most of us line pilots are comfortable with.  I am happy that I generally supported USAPA all along, but sorely disappointed with the shenanigans over the years.  I am quite comfortable becoming APA, and don't plan to look back.

You, Snap, would probably be dumfounded to know how many of us on the east side generally feel this way.  Don't look for us crying in our soup.  Find us by listening for the champagne corks.

Well put sir, and fully agreed with here. Now...if there was just some way to get rid of team tempe in the process...oh well. Nothing's ever perfect in this world of ours.

Had my life ever been predicated on USAir/whatever airline being my "glory years", as you seem to do with AWA...I'd have had no life.  Nice try though. 😉

I thought the video was well done. Nice try, I guess.

The only thing that will survive the merger is my AWA pins, uniform, etc. Nothing from the US era. The sooner it passes, the better.

Hello AA, Goodbye us air.

Yeah, because all they ever did for you was resurrect your dead airline, keep your job, and bring the airline to consistent, record profits.

Try eating the ripe grapes for once, they are better for you than the sour ones.

Hello AA, Goodbye us air.

We've no argument there snap, as I lost labeling concerns after first Eastern and then PSA, and I've never held any grand reverence for airline insignia anyway...although the smiling-faced planes were a fun flying club to have memories of. 😉 I can understand your notions towards AWA in that regard.

Whatever else is true: It's my earnest hope that all of you, east-west-whatever, with many years yet to go find a decent career with the new American.
