AFA labor discussion (Work related)

The + and - are the like and dislike buttons. Bottom right corner of each post.

Why is everyone's answer to the problem.. just vote NO!!! It's like building a house.. while it is being built you know that the foundation isn't stable.. but, you just keep going til it's built.. NOW, you can't live in it (voting NO).. Well, if you would have fixed the foundation problem in the first place (JNC) you wouldn't have to tear it done.....

Why should we have to go that far???? The MEC is NOT listening to you! They are waisting your money! You have more room to improve on it NOW than you will voting it down and sending it back!!! You can move feet now... only inches later....

Don't be so stupid people....

Excellent analogy.

If you don't like the contract....vote no. It's real simple and I'm not being sarcastic. Just vote No.

You don't have to recall anybody if you don't like what you see. Just vote No. You can't be any more clear than that.

Recalling the JNC is a lot of drama and a waste of time. A waste of resources that could be best used elsewhere.

By the way, the PBS system is on the AFA west website. Go have a look. It's not as bad as you may think. What disturbs me is that it's not been posted via E-Line as it should have been. The west f/a's have had this info for a while.

And just so you know.....PBS has been a known possibility in our contract for at least 5 years. Read your contract.
It's real simple? or are you real simple? and I am not being sarcastic. This has been the philosophy of the JNC but only after they have been milking these negotiations for over 5 years. Just vote NO? Now they are in full tilt damage control. They always felt they could pull the wool over our eyes but when we called their bluff and called them on the carpet ( recall ) now they are starting to conform to the members ideas. I think its too little, too late for them. I believe last weeks results in CLT are just the tip of the iceberg. Look for a clean sweep in philly and Washington, then the MEC etc etc. They should have pulled out all of the officers in clt. The others are no more qualified than the President.

Today the JNC announces they are breaking off talks and are meeting with the National office to prepare their strategy. They should have walked away 3 years ago. Im sure they were worried they would have to return to flying the line if they walked away from the table. This coming on the heels of a sub standard monetary proposal. I guess that is the only issue this JNC really cared about. They were willing to sell out the reserves when they negligently tentatively agreed to the horrible reserve proposal. They were willing to increase the concessions that we have already given up and that was ok. All of these concessions and more they were ok with until the money came along. They thought we were going to fund our monetary increase through all of the concessions they willingly gave the company. These are the negotiators that have been protected by an incompetent MEC. They have managed to put us in a really bad position by negligently agreeing to sections that were not endorsed by the members. They are lisitening to the members now though. Get the broom.

Couldnt have said it better Twice.

Two things. First, this MEC and JNC needs to understand that we are about to clean house and take back OUR union and those representing will do what WE want and not what THEY feel is right. Second, this management better take notice at what's going on here and understand that we'd bring this place to it's knees before working under ANY of the concessions they have proposed. Time to play hardball.

I do not think the JNC is listening to the members, nor are they willing to address any concerns that have been brought up. What they are doing is walking away from the compensation and scope stripping the company has offered.

Exactly Zarah. Besides what you mentioned this JNC is completely satisfied with what they negotiated thus far. They believe what they brought us is suitable and they proved a job well done. I think walking away from negotiations was the right thing but when we go BACK to talking it better be with new negotiators. Take a look on CNN at Egypt. That is what you will see the f/a's do to AFA if this crap doesn't change and FAST.

See you on the 17th!!!

See you on the 17th!!!

See you at the AFA sponsored PR event or the Membership Unity Rally? I've set up an event to coincide with the AFA support group in an effort to show the company we are United in replacing the Mike & Carol puppets they've been using for the past five years to stall negotiations. So far, the only confirmed site is PHL. It would be nice to see them at each base, either at the airport with a permit or an appropriate public spot--no permit necessary. I'm attaching suggested posters.

Have fun

OK. Help me out here. My understanding at this point is the we are petitioning from 11-1 in clt on the 17th. I don't know of anything else. Is this what we are to put on the signs we carry? I was told afa would make the signs but if this is what we need to do, count me in. I just flew a 4 day trip and no one knew about the 17th. Something needs to be done to make sure everyone knows as we need hundreds, not just a dozen there. Will be glad to make signs if someone will clue me in.

Oh for Pete's Sake.....Pit Bull doesn't live here anymore.

But she is right about one thing..the body has spoken.

Problem is....the company isn't nervous as hell. In this base, they know Cathy quite well and she will not get any wiggle room on anything. Management here does not respect her ( in fact...they detest her ) and they have reason why. They will be hard line with her.

Which can and will present a problem for our f/a's.

Now she can fight 'til the cows come home but she will have no impact. She will come up against a wall. Just my opinion...but one that should have been listened to.

However, she will be walking into a very well run office. Some people aren't so lucky. She has a very good group of people there. That is a big plus. And she should avail herself of them.

Hopefully she doesn't see the need to replace them. Although I don't see how since they are all elected positions. And their records are pristine.

Good group of people to work with????? Give me a friggen break here. Glenda T is a former base manager of CLT for 10 years, and still holds her LECVP position in CLT; only problem here is she is also the MEC Sec/ Treas THAT'S RIGHT YOU HEARD ME...Sec/Trea of the MEC. Newly elected in Jan. by the current group of "bygones"... WOLDN'T HAVE HER HOLD ANY, AND i MEAN ANY POSITION AT AFA. But, I'm not there, but way I see it, f/as are moving fast to do a sweep. And its a matter of time before the MEC office is cleaned out like a termite extermination!

With regard to company respect...they DO NOT respect the current officers you guys have, that's an blatant, obvious fact. Cathy is tough, and she will do all she can to protect the group. And when PHL officers are GONE, then the new regime can go in and clean up the MEC and move on the company. That's how it is going to work. And hopefully, the f/a will finally take out that termite in DCA.

Good luck to the f/as group; you guys have always been the most powerful labor group on the property!

It's not a mere matter of voting down the contract, because you would have the same yoyo's going in there again to reneogtiate. And why pay them union $$ for doing nothing but being company stews????? Nooooo, I think the f/as have the right path, and that's to take all of them out of office and have them go back on the line or friggin retire.
