AFA labor discussion (Work related)

I think Songbird has made a very good point. Which everyone seems to be missing. She helped her out of the "kindness of her heart" and then got nasty when Songbird wouldn't go sneaking around for her.

Now that's just creepy as hell.

Why would anyone want someone in our AFA office that is so scanky?

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I do recognize character assination when I see it.

You are not able to criticize this individual based on any known criteria so you simply take the low road and start using words like "skanky". I know skank when I see it and I am seeing it right now in your post. You cannot defend the record of the incumbent or the record of the union. You cannot defend the fact that in an informal poll on this board the current Yes / No ratio on a TA is running 39 to 5 against.

You can only call someone who was able to prove election irregularities, a very high hurdle to overcome, a "skank". It is such a hollow claim. Do you have the brains and tenacity to sucessfully challenge a DOL governed election and succeed?

As to skanky ambition I read on another board that Pat Friend, AFA President, is retiring. Her challenger in the last election, why none other than Mike Flores. Well we can see where his interests lie. Could it be that he wants to deliver a TA so that he can claim success in the next AFA Presidential election. I would not look good if he couldn't deliver the goods, would it?

On the ALPA side we have had the same problems. When local union leaders see the Big Money at national they just gotta get on the "gravy train." An East pilot who was an ALPA V/P was getting about $380K / yr. Nice work if you can get it and who cares if you have to trample the rank and file to get it.

Could it be that the real "skanks" are in office and they just want to keep it that way?

Looks like AFA Council 66 will be hosting special informational meetings regarding the recent compensation proposal this Sunday and Monday at the local office in PHX.
 
I did not take my issue to my own LEC because I heard that RSVs in CLT were dealing with the same problem I was having so someone suggested I contact Cathy. I am not trashing her, just telling the truth and would take a lie detector test to prove it. For people to make a decision on who to vote for, they should be told all the facts and this event is a FACT.

Ask Cathy if she was not asked to stay out of the local office. Ask Cathy if she was not removed from her RSV chair position. Did you ask Cathy if she remembers our conversation when she told me I "owed" her? As I said previously --if she says no then she is the one that is lying.

THEN ask yourself why you need her to get in to office so badly. Why is this so important to you that you continue to come on here and call me a liar ? Your personal vendetta is frightening. It's time to move on.

This is exactly why I asked the question if there are others on the ballot. People loose focus by wrangling back and fourth between the two candidates which may or not be best for the job. If this is going to be a truly fair election I think it would be good to know about all the candidates. My argument continues to be that the folks you may least expect may be the best person for the job. It is ovious tha emotion runs high, but don't let that cloud over the fact there may be other choices.
 
Am PHL based but have been bringing examples to the MEC about how MF and Carol are costing us time and money since at least May of '09. All I asked of them is an intelligent response. All Ann could muster is, "Are you kidding me?" Based on work with her when I was MEC Benefits Chair, LEC Secy. and the lack of an intelligent response to negotiations, I'd be inclined to look at the results of the DOL investigation before saying the effort to get a revote is 'crying wolf'. If it looks like a duck--all I'm sayin'

Company Passes Unacceptable Comprehensive Proposal

On Tuesday, December 7, 2010, Company negotiators passed a comprehensive proposal to your Joint Negotiating Committee (JNC) that devalued your job, ignored your needs and did not come close to forming a framework that would result in an agreement. The word that best describes the Company’s proposal? Insulting. Highlights (or lows) of the proposal include:

• A gutting of the AFA Scope language and protections because it “encumbers the Company’s ability to attract merger partners.”

• A Compensation proposal would simply move up the 2012 East pay rate already negotiated in the current contract and locking that pay scale in for the next 5 years, with no other increases.

• A Healthcare proposal that would eliminate the 90% and 100% plans providing only an 80% plan for flight attendants, while increasing the deductible to astronomical levels.

• Per Diem based upon East 2008 rates

• A tiered Vacation scale that brings East flight attendants up to West vacation days per year and offers no additional days for West flight attendants

• A Sick Leave policy that stops West flight attendants from using their sick time to care for their sick children and requires the Lineholder to make up the time used from the sick bank; pays 100% for the first yearly sick occurrence thereafter paying 70%

• Eliminates the requirement that the Company hold discussions and negotiates with AFA on issues surrounding new aircraft equipment and routes

The Comprehensive Proposal passed to AFA this week from management was not in the ballpark for acceptance by your negotiators, and nowhere near the AFA Compensation proposal provided to the Company in October. In essence, the only thing the Company did was to extend the East bankruptcy contract with added concessions, leaving this JNC no choice but to reject the proposal.

The JNC countered with a proposal that reflects the compensation pay rates of airlines such as Alaska, Continental and proposals on the table at United. Our proposal also eliminates the Customer Service Director (CSD) program because of lack of adequate compensation for participation in the purser-type program and rejects any proposal to split East flight attendants from their pilots.

East MEC Notifies Company of intent to open Section 6 Discussions

The East Master Executive Council (MEC) sent a letter to US Airways requesting to begin Section 6 Negotiations on the East Flight Attendant Agreement. The East flight attendant contract provides for an early opportunity to open Section 6 discussions on their contract, which becomes amendable in January 2012. The notice of Section 6 intent is required to be presented by the end of December of this year.

The East flight attendant contract, Section 22, Duration, B.1. “ This Agreement shall become effective on January 10, 2005, with the exception of times and different dates mentioned otherwise herein as agreed to in negotiations, and shall continued in full force and effect until December 31, 2011. The Company and the Associations agree to open negotiations under Section 6 or the Railway Labor Act one year prior to the amendable date. “

If management is unable to reach an agreement with AFA on a merged contract, East flight attendants will have the opportunity to request return to Section 6 negotiations on a separate contract and West flight attendants will have the opportunity to request a strike vote and a release from the National Mediation Board. It is unlikely that the NMB would return one group to Section 6 talks without also returning the other.

Council 66 Section 6 negotiations were reopened in June of 2009. However after one meeting, Company negotiators refused to schedule additional sessions and both parties returned to Merged Contract talks. Today, the Council 66 Section 6 negotiations remain open but “recessed” while parties have focused on reaching a Merged Agreement.

After reading this "proposal," with every ounce of our being, you better believe we would. This "proposal" only puts into words just how much disdain and disrespect this company has for all East and West Flight Attendants.

AstroLounge you are correct she does have her own agenda which is to stand up for the CLT f/a! Which the current leadership has lost the luster to do. Everyone should stand up and defend her. Especially when there are people like you trashing her. She is a proven winner!! She won a election challenge with the DOL! Yea, guess one can win when there is unethical practices at hand! Since they are going to be monitored this time the only other option is to attempt to trash her.
And as for her on facebook PLEASE you are a veteran poster on this web board. So worry about yourself before you attack anyone. In fact how do you know if she is on facebook unless you are on there ALL THE TIME.
