AFA labor discussion (Work related)

I say this with all due respect, how much more do you think that job is worth?

I am sure you know that wage is not a typical 8 hours a day 40 hour work week. We may work 14 hours and only fly 5 flight hours. The senior mamas flying to Athens have it good working efficient high time trips, but alot of us do not.

The only reason US is making money is from baggage fees, etc AND by still paying us bankruptcy wages. We were given the ultimatim of taking huge cuts "to save the company" and years later we are waving the Remember Me flag. Also, we went to minimum staffing on airplanes with the excuse that we no longer serve meals. For example, the 757 domestic used to staff 6 and now it is 4. The 321 suffers with only 4 as well. The First Class cabin suffers the most, since there is no gallley hag for the A flight attendant with 16 passengers. The A is the hostess, waitress, chef and bus boy and you are rattling your glass wondering why you didn't get a refill on your cocktail. Then, after you leave, we get to pick up all the garbage you left behind.
We are no longer in bankruptcy and the concession stand is closed. :angry:

AGREE. M-a-n-y VALID points, and the Biggest Issue IS The Pay. People that are NOT F/A's look at the hourly pay and quip "You've got to be kidding me, Pay them $41 per hour for what?!". A F/A's schedule is NOT 9-5, not 40 hours a work week and requires You to be On The Road (incurring expenses ALL along the way). Most F/A's work 85-100 hours A MONTH.........occassionally You find the aggressive, greedy ones that fly 100 plus (and that Is their perogative.........Knock Yourself Out). So $41 is pretty much Chicken* when it comes to compensation. And I do mean crap when it comes to the length of Duty Days, construction of trips and all the related BS that comes with dealing with a not so cooperative travelling public. And let's NOT forget, time between flights and even Boarding are NOT Compensated. F/A's didn't make the Rules........they are just REQUIRED to Enforce them. Cleaning the aircraft IS an issue where MOST would say, ""I'll do it, but I expect to be COMPENSATED". Right Now, the F/A's get SQUAT..........and so the 'cleaning process' is meager at best...........You get what You Pay For. (Mgmnt Isn't Paying, so many just "Go thru the motions'). Staffing..........Stephen Wolf KNEW how to Run an Airline and was willing to Give The Tools and Provide the Staffing to execute The Experience. Bankrupcies (x2) wretched Management Teams.......remember that Bozo (Dr. Bronner..........yikes) and a machette was used to cut out the Tools and Axe the Staffing. Step in Team Tempe who had NO IDEA how to Run a Bigger, more diverse Operation...............and the notion "Houston WE Have A Problem" becomes a MAJOR ISSUE. With ALL The Cuts E-v-e-r-y labor Group has endured over The Years, not until Mgmnt GETS S-e-r-i-u-s In Negotiations will there be ANY progress. Mgmnt has NO HESITATION in providing Executive Perks, Compensation and Deeper Pockets for Themselves on a Quarterly basis and the Time has Come When The Worker Bee's Get some Too. Because WITHOUT The Bee's, Mgmnt would be getting familiar with SQUAT themselves! (But We all know how THEY Work.........they just pack themselves Up and Roam the Corporate World like a Gypsy looking for another Target). 🙄
 
And let's NOT forget Retirement (what retirement) vacation, sick and the Biggest Joke...................RESERVE. The current reserve Contract provissions are similar to what You would expect in a WW2 Labor Camp. All of this Needs to Be Addressed. So now You see what Chicken* looks like at $41 (A FLIGHT HOUR). :lol:
 
OK! ! ! ! ! So for all of you that "needed to see more" are you happy now? Ready to still vote YES? I'll say this....GO TO HELL! ! ! ! I've seen everything now.

Our management may THINK we are DIVIDED....but they are in for a rude awakening when they see the Flight Attendant firefront approach from both East and West united as one -very pissed off- workgroup! 😱
 
Whatever anyone thinks the flight attendant group IS united. When push comes shove 'east' and 'west' will stand together and if it calls for us to walk we will WALK together.

Call me a cynic but here are the first two things that crossed my mind when I saw that compensation proposal post:

1. Well, no worries on the senior mamas voting for the tentative now.

2. Ahhh. Put out something completely offensive and then the real offer won't seem so bad.

This isn't over. Please understand that when - because they have to unless they really do want us to strike- when they trot out the $50/hour THAT WILL STILL NOT BE ENOUGH.

They want a game changer. For better or worse the East contract has a lot of little onerous details that AWA wants GONE. Bidsheet, vacation dropping trips, me too. . .etc. ALL OF THIS IS MONEY. CURRENCY, DINERO.

Other airlines do not have a lot of our quirks and AWA wants them gone, well then I had better see the $57 number that Continental turned down. Especially when on a day to day basis they are treated a LOT better and umm, have decent staffing on their a/c. We have earned better after sustaining the worst contract that the airline industry ever put out.

The implementation of any form of PBS, I don't care how many bells and whistles it has is a CONCESSION.

Reserve any other way than the way it was pre-LTO is a CONCESSION. During the bankruptcy negotiations the company gave the union a number. A LOT of that number was borne on the chin by the reserves and the 70% sick rule. This contract should be about return and GAIN, not modifications and LOSS.

There are still moves to be made here. I am glad that the union is starting the clock on Section 6.

If you take our hourly rate and divide it in half, that will give you what someone working 40 hours a week would make. So the $41 an hour would equal $20.50 for someone working in the "real world". We both would make the same over the course of a year, all other things being equal. (no overtime, no time and a half, etc.)
 
This should be in EVERYONE'S interest....this is the proposal the Company replied with regarding compensation - WARNING! IT IS REPULSIVE!!!

IF THE WEST FLIGHT ATTENDANTS VOTE TO STRIKE, WOULD THE EAST BACK US UP??

Count me in... still have the old bright green C.H.A.O.S AFA t-shirt somewhere. Better dust it off!!!

AstroLounge you are correct she does have her own agenda which is to stand up for the CLT f/a! Which the current leadership has lost the luster to do. Everyone should stand up and defend her. Especially when there are people like you trashing her. She is a proven winner!! She won a election challenge with the DOL! Yea, guess one can win when there is unethical practices at hand! Since they are going to be monitored this time the only other option is to attempt to trash her.
And as for her on facebook PLEASE you are a veteran poster on this web board. So worry about yourself before you attack anyone. In fact how do you know if she is on facebook unless you are on there ALL THE TIME.

Cathy created a blog on Facebook a couple of years ago called Reserves and Concerned Blockholders. She is the admin. And if she doesn't like you.....you get unfriended. I've heard her talk about it. She relishes taking people off of it. She loves that control.

I doubt there is one person who has run for office that never had a person they didn't rub the wrong way or didn't get along with. It is what it is. I'm still waiting to hear though what Anne has done for the good of the flight attendants, ya know the membership who she resides over? What has she done that is so monumental for the membership? Anything? ****crickets****crickets****crickets*** 🙄
