AFA labor discussion (Work related)

Funny thing that. I go on a fishing expedition and end up bagging a fox. And even more amusing is you don't realize you've just been field dressed!!!

Time for some separate corners. I think everyone is entitled to their opinion. The reality is the only opinion that will matter is that of the voters. When the results are in you will both have to live with the results this time. Hopefully, you can work through those differences and focus your energy on your contract. I still don't recall whether or not there were others on the ballot. That could play into this as well.

I think it is shameful that the DOL had to get involved in the first place. It is quite evident that something hinky made it all the way up the chain of command at your international office. They can spin it all they want but I think the DOL involvement speaks volumes as to what is taking place throughout your union.

Next thing to deal with is your ringmaster and sideshow Austin.

Well, I always say to take the right bait when you go fishing!

But seriously, I wasn't the only one on the board awaiting an answer- that seems to be overlooked. The fact is, I tire of this mediocre banter. I will simply wait until the 4th. Most of the chatter I've heard on the line matches my own philosophy i.e. get rid of the current officers and put new ones in who will stand up for us and what's left of our contract.

And I do believe that the DOL involvement was indeed a validation and vindication for all of the voters who were angry that the incumbents won when very few seemed to vote for them. No one from the current office has even attempted to defend or contradict the findings (not that they could).

Although I'm not quite sure of what you were trying to catch...Kudos on your self-presumed cleverness!
Hugs and big kisses to you...and best wishes.

Oh, so NOW You take it upon Yourself to 'educate Me" on the workings of the internet <lol>..............If I HAD a Need To SCREAM I would tell You "BUZZ OFF IDIOT!". I am NOT in a UNION Office (never had ANY desire to involve myself with that BS) but what I really have ISSUES with is How MANY of You see the Soup Lady as the Second Coming of Christ. She is NOT the Answer. She just happen to have a BIG Mouth, likes to play the role of Town Crier and missed Her Calling as Joan of Arc. I for ONE am NOT buying HER Passion as THE SOLUTION. Her DRAMA is enough for the Academy of Screen Actors to discontinue THE OSCAR's because there ISN'T One B-I-G enough to acknowledge this Know-it-all. THAT IS MY POINT..............All in Caps, and I am NOT SCREAMING. Jack A..........!
Astro, I am very worried about your anger issues. Too much drama here. I would never dream to teach you anything about the workings of the internet nor do I have the desire. I opted out of teaching adults ,let alone tantrum induced children, long ago.
That being said, what will we discuss after the 4th if we burn all of our bridges over this one issue. Shall we move on to the next lovely topic? You seem to know a lot about the theatre...

LOOK, I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO ANGER ISSUES..............and i even can show you that i can write it in all capitals, and trust me i am not yelling. (Like who in the hell ever established the nonsense that All Caps is YELLING is beyond Me. Talk about Nonsense Protocol.). I DO NOT like the Soup Lady. Period. And for those of You that want to Cast Your Vote for Her.............tictocktic tock.............it will only be a Matter of Time before She reveals her True Self. And that is "IF" she doesn't crack before then. (And I can Only ASSUME, You and Your 'Flock' have Issues with italicized words. )

I think everyone knows of your dislike for the soup lady. You Have made that very clear. It is fine to have an opinion, that is what this board is all about. Share ideas and opinions. Everyone on here has been beat up a time or two for their opinions including me. I think the main sticking points everyone has is by sharing your opinion you must be prepared to defend your position from both sides. What people keep asking is why should they keep the incumbent? You may be right about the soup lady I have no clue. However, there seems to be a black cloud over the incumbent from the results of the first election. The establishment can spin it any way they want. All appearances are that it was a little more than an honest little mistake. When it was found their was a discrepancy in the ballots it should have been fixed right there. From my understanding though the international office validated the election as is. The DOL didn't get involved because they had nothing better to do.

That is why I kept asking the question if there were others on the ballot. Never got an answer to that question unless I missed it. That is also the reason everyone else kept asking what the incumbent had done while in office. One of the many problems that face you guys in dealing with the union is you are always having to pick the least of two evils. Part of that is good people are scared away from the ugly politics. The only people that end up running for any office are the same people that get recycled from within the union. It becomes a club of sorts and people start playing favors much the way the government politicos due. They end up scratching the backs of their enemies because they are bucking for the power chair one day. It becomes easier to make friends with enemies than to do the right thing and just represent the people you are there to represent. YOUR union is a mess and I believe people are finally trying to right the ship. Of course you may be right that the soup lady is unstable and not a good leader, but that is what you get when picking the least of the two evils. Hopefully, the right choice was made. Hopefully, everyone that wanted to vote did. It would be ashame if the people that voted before were so disenchanted that they just gave up. You will see tomorrow I guess!

Don't think there is anything hinky going on with your union? Look at your just announced negotiators for section six negotiation. Are you telling me out of all the resumes' they received that the new folks are the old folks. Your leader said the company was not negotiating in good faith and they were going to hit them from three sides. I am sure that your company is shaking in their shoes knowing that the "new" negotiators are the same folks they are already very comfortable with at stonewalling!

I hope whoever ends up in office that they will see that the will of the flight attendants are represented and nothing else. A fair contract will only come from a unified voice. It is evident that unified voice does not exist at this point and time.

Could not have said it any better - spot on

Well, it seems as if the wheels of justice have been carried out at least on the local level. Take notice all of the rest of you in office, the membership wants its union back. This is just the first step. Congratulations to Cathy Campbell on her win. Perserverence in the pursuit of justice is admirable.

All of us in CLT can now breathe a huge sigh of relief and take heart that one battle has been won. 🙂

One of the rumors I heard was that if Cathy won all the other officers in CLT were going to resign. Maybe we'll get a new VP and SEC?

First of all, if you believe that, have I got a bridge for you!

Secondly, if that were true, I'd be out buying lottery tickets, cause we would never get THAT lucky! 😛h34r:

While I would certainly congratulate Charlotte on their change. I would add caution that while this battle has been won, the war has just begun. First, you need to keep the new leadership honest. Make sure she is following through with campaign promises, extra. You guys have a long way to go yet. There will be time for a pat on the back latter when things have been accomplished! What were the numbers on the election? Hopefully it sends a clear message that it was a bit more than a little mistake that was made in the first run and you now are keeping an eye out on all union leadership! Especially at the top. Too bad your friend just took her money and ran. Sorry, I meant retired! Time to hold some folks resposible.

Congratulations to Cathy! We'll see if she's a drama queen or the next Mesiah. Got my fingers crossed. I'll believe the others will resign when I see it. Everyone I talked to thought we should be able to vote on all the positions. Hope this not only puts Mike on notice but also the company. As I have said for the past three years, I can only hope to picket against the company-got my 4 inch heels (oops, not complaint 3 inch heels on) ready to rock!!

Seems a bit quiet here if the results are out.

Was just in the CLT crew room and everyone was a buzz. It's official yet no word from AFA on the lec mec or international level. I would think they are still in shock. Arrogant fools. Congrats Cathy!
