AFA labor discussion (Work related)

OK. Help me out here. My understanding at this point is the we are petitioning from 11-1 in clt on the 17th. I don't know of anything else. Is this what we are to put on the signs we carry? I was told afa would make the signs but if this is what we need to do, count me in. I just flew a 4 day trip and no one knew about the 17th. Something needs to be done to make sure everyone knows as we need hundreds, not just a dozen there. Will be glad to make signs if someone will clue me in.

OK Here's the reason the company gets to roll over us as a group. Someone asks a question but if no one knows who ir is, who cares? This board seems to be for the blessed few and those to whom you can't puit a face don't matter. Well, we are the ones who can help. Like the top tier of the afa, you are not using your brain!!!! We are alll in the same boat and you should takle advantage of our numbers and not be like the seniors who are only concerned with themselves!!! WTF????

Hi Nick~

The signs should already be printed and ready to go in each domicile.

Based on the information I'm receiving, it appears we (in PHX) will have a large turnout. We have confirmation from pilots, state labor organizations and Flight Attendants representing SWA, UAL and AA, to name a few. Heck my Mother is flying out from Chicago to visit and plans on being on the picket line with us.

Best to all who are able to participate on the 17th.

I also have confirmation from F/A friends from AirTran and Continental that will be joining us in DCA and CLT.

Two things. First, this MEC and JNC needs to understand that we are about to clean house and take back OUR union and those representing will do what WE want and not what THEY feel is right. Second, this management better take notice at what's going on here and understand that we'd bring this place to it's knees before working under ANY of the concessions they have proposed. Time to play hardball.

Although we don't always see eye2eye....I have to agree with you on this post!!

And for that I'll say, "Thank You".

We have all read the info put out by the JNC and many have sat through the botched "information sessions" with the majority walking away saying, "NO". We don't need to pick apart what we like and don't like about what we've seen as it will NEVER, EVER see the light of day. There is so much concessionary language in there that I could never vote yes for it. Mike and Carol are in control of our destiny and I don't care for the direction they have taken us. I think it's safe to say that most feel that way and that is why we see a push to remove those that vote to keep them in. It's THAT simple. I'll ask this of those in DCA, PHL and CLT, "At what cost are you willing to protect Mike and Carol while you get recalled by the very membership you represent"? It's not going to happen for this is OUR union and you'll do as WE direct you to do. Pretty simple. What DO I want? Well for starters a clean and honest dialogue between the MEC/JNC and it's members. LISTEN TO US! ! ! !

Oh for Pete's Sake.....Pit Bull doesn't live here anymore.

But she is right about one thing..the body has spoken.

Problem is....the company isn't nervous as hell. In this base, they know Cathy quite well and she will not get any wiggle room on anything. Management here does not respect her ( in fact...they detest her ) and they have reason why. They will be hard line with her.

Which can and will present a problem for our f/a's.

Now she can fight 'til the cows come home but she will have no impact. She will come up against a wall. Just my opinion...but one that should have been listened to.

However, she will be walking into a very well run office. Some people aren't so lucky. She has a very good group of people there. That is a big plus. And she should avail herself of them.

Hopefully she doesn't see the need to replace them. Although I don't see how since they are all elected positions. And their records are pristine.
Let me get this straight, she's walking into a very well run office? And that office would be where? Perhaps in the new location? Yes, it was moved and we received the email just before it became reality. My question is, what in this "very well run" office actually make it to the new location? Quite frankly, I wouldn't put anything past the current officers and let's face it, I think they knew in the fair election that Ann would lose.
Also, the current remaining officers are less than capable. And when I have had the occassion to reach them, I have had to actually quote the contract to them (to which the response was they weren't aware of the language). They are rude and unprofessional. I wish Cathy all the luck trying to work with them. Availing herself of them would be like handling venomous snakes.
As far as their records being pristine, well....I wouldn't go that far.

On the topic of the JNC, the MEC and cleaning house...AMEN! I've got my Eureka primed and ready to suck up the dirt, even changed the bag.
NOW IS THE TIME!
On the topic of Glenda T. holding multiple offices? She's the worst one there and needs to be recalled BEFORE she does anything either on the Systems Board (Oh yeah, she's on THAT, too) or anywhere else. How about demanding that AFA alter the C&Bs to prohibit multiple offices from being held by the same individual in airlines with membership lists of our size?
Let's tackle that one AFTER we oust the current MEC officers and some of the current LECs in PHL and DCA.
Send the message to International to clean up there as well.
Just voting "NO" is just wasting time. Let's see, my taxes have gone up, my fees have gone up, my everyday expenses have gone up...my income hasn't seen relief in nearly 15 years...maybe more (trying to remember the very first concessionary). I don't want the JNC to have one more minute to work on the new contract than they have already had.

...Sorry, I was on a roll.

Interesting. I've never known the current officers to be rude nor unprofessional. Ever. However, I've never called the office with a chip on my shoulder. Nor have I started a conversation by being rude and discourteous. Maybe that's your problem. Learn some manners and you might get a different result. 🙂

Yes, they moved the office. That was something in the works for a while. So what? You have an issue with that for what reason? That's hardly a big deal. 🙄

This is no dig on you personally. You are right in the fact it should be a two way street for manners. However, If the particular leader was in office for the right reasons they don't take things personally. If someone is calling the union office there is a good Chance that the person calling has an issue that has got them to the point that they need an advocate. You are there to listen and be a calming force. The person may not be upset at you personally but is just in a situation where the temper may be elevated. I think in general a call to the union office is a call of last resort. They need help! If you are a union leader and can't handle a few calls that don't have all the pleasantries of a Royal Gala, you may not be the right person for the job.

Perhaps OhReally or there sidekick could comment!

Quick get the Mayor of Munchkinland! I think a house has fallen!
Flyby, if all the Munchkins in Munchkinland said the "which old witch" was bad and that her sisters weren't much better, would they all have a chip on their shoulders or would they all be sporting a new pair of ruby slippers? I don't call the office with a chip but I do end up with a headache. I don't believe I've ever "started a conversation" rude and discourteous either. You act as if you know me but I can assure you, you don't (not that it matters).
The problem with your logic ( that everyone at the CLT base is crazy, rude, discourteous, ill-mannered and that the leadership is pristine, above board, helpful and courteous" is flawed. How do I know? Because the membership spoke in very loud voices and they are still hopping mad. They want leadership that does what they're supposed to do...represent them. And what a novel concept that is too.
Also, I don't particularly care where the new office is. You, once again, missed the point. My question is whether or not an accurate "transfer of inventory" was kept? You know, that pesky little sheet that says this equipment was loaded from here and this equipment arrived here. A valid question since union dollars paid for things.
Now as for my manners, they are just fine thank you. It's my sarcasm that needs a little tweaking.
Sincerely, and I really mean it,
CLFox
P.S. By the way, just adore the emoticons. Nice touch.

Well now...I heard ya'll might take a stab at Glenda a few weeks ago. And your bringing this up tells me many things.

First, you're afraid of her. Cathy is too. Cathy can't control her. Glenda is smarter than Cathy also. By a long shot. And she has the resume to back it up.

You don't like Glenda because she doesn't play bs games. Glenda is a straight shooter.

Glenda has held multiple offices before which proves to me and anyone else that she is more than capable of handling her current responsibilities.

I didn't hear you bellyaching over TX holding duel positions. Nor have I heard you complain about LC either. No, this is all about trying to oust an elected rep.

Your fear of her is oozing from your pores.

Crazylikefox stop being so mean ummmmm crazy? LOL <<< I won't emoticon you. 😛 OOPS just did.
