VOTE NO. THAT WAS EASY!!!!!!(so nice to not have to explain my position)

It's funny . when the twu was knocking on the door. Tommy boy was coming around telling everyone how Great the pension was

and how the IAM is the union you need .

Geez,
and the reward you get for sticking with these guys is . round 3 lets screw the boys some more.

Districtforce,

Please add this to Randy's list.
As reported to me by a person present during Randy's speech in
JAX, Randy made the statement that he was against this merger.
IAM doesn’t want to loose mechanic and relative to the teamster like they did at UA

I don't think West does Catering at all, it's all LSG Skychefs.

Not on the TWU CBA. You might have if it was part of the CA living wage law, but that's it. Of course, back in the pre union days you could get some crazy OT. I got paid 3 hours for 45 minutes all the time.
Thanks just something I was wondering about.

I agree that the focus should be on a merger. But I think that is a reason to vote yes. You must ask yourself if US AIRWAYS is a stand alone carrier. Oil at record highs? Stock so low? Economy in disarray? Hundreds of millions in losses? Now isn't the time, have some patience and wait till 2011 when the economy might bounce back and we can go in to traditional negotiations and bargain for the contract everyone deserves.

Without a ratification, you may be without a merger partner. United Airlines is not impressed with keeping the west side scope and the Change in Control. It wouldn't surprise me if they walked away because of it. A big risk for no voters to take for 8,000 households. Without United, many might be without a job.
...............And I thought CIC had no value...lol..................duh....

Isn't it funny how things come full circle and this one could end up biting Randy right on the a$$. Randy made a deal with Hoffa to keep the IAM name off the ballot when the Teamsters were raiding AMFA. In return Hoffa made a public statement that the Teamsters would not pursue Fleet Service at US. Now Hoffa is in position to take away the US Mechanics.

Well played Hoffa! I wonder if District 142 and the International realize that Randy Goofed again. How bad will Randy make the International bleed before they get rid of the Leech?

June?

ok freedom for the last time I will try and explain this to you.

You are correct the first bullet screws anyone already out. if effects those going forward. Now this it where it gets tricky,

the 3rd bullet states "if an employees's furlough station remains closed and the employee is recalled to their selected recall station

"PRIOR TO OEI " , such employee will be placed on the pay scale consistent with their pay date sen. at date of furlough.

NOW what that means is If your recalled to your recall or original station PRIOR TO OEI you will be placed on your payscale.

if your recalled AFTER OEI . looks like your back to 9.00 bucks an hour..

THOSE three words were added this time for a reason. It's all smoke and mirrors. And as a steward when someone comes

to me in 6 months and says why am I only getting 9.00 bucks an hour . I will have to tell them because thats what our POS contract

says. Don't believe . just wait and see.

listen to your own contradictions . "Hello merger starting" . So your answer is YES lets throw away our MERGER PROTECTIONS.

WTF

Article 7 (Seniority) Integrated Seniority list will apply to all Employees no later than OEI.

Effective on Transition date amend CBA as follows:

· Effective on date of ratification, the 60 day rule will be eliminated for any furloughs that occur after that date.

· All Employees who are currently working at any station under the 60 day rule or any station covered under the Interim Transition Agreement on the first day of the first pay period following ratification will be placed on the pay scale consistent with their US Airways pay seniority on date of furlough.

· Employees currently on involuntary furlough for 60 days or more shall forfeit all pay date seniority except that an employee who is recalled to the station from which he was furloughed prior to OEI will be placed in the pay scale consistent with their pay date seniority at date of furlough. In addition, if an employee’s furlough station remains closed and the Employee is recalled to their selected recall station prior to OEI, such Employee will be placed on the pay scale consistent with their pay date seniority at date of furlough.

this is simple O man , if you haven't been put on furlough on may 8th 2008 after ratfication then you no longer have to worry about the 60 day rule ...

What your talking about ONLY affects those who are ALREADY on furlough ... notice in the third bullet where it say CURRENTLY ON ....

The 60 day rule goes away for the east if this passes .... and my point to those of you in the east is this ... no one cares about the people on furlough , not really anyways , we say sympathic things about them , but no one cares .. to my east brothers , there are already people out on furlough who can't get back to this day , with a megrer that means they will need LESS workers , how easy do you think it will be to come back ?

Don't let yourself get talked into throwing yourselves under the bus , you might get your heads filled with solidarity , but the fact of the matter is , it's just people stepping over your corpse to get a better pay raise ... you might need or want this job again someday , at least allow yourself to come back with some dignity and not have to start over at day one pay ....

I'm DYING to see the minutes of these UA Board meetings. Assuming this post is accurate, when it comes down to the vote, Canale had better vote no or he just probes that he's a liar yet again. Note that I AM specifying that this is predicated on the quoted statement being accurate.

Im not sure this has been discussed but one thing you might want to think about here.
If and when we merge with UA If we vote this T/A in than we all begin again to transition us into a UA deal, dont you want to come in with some of the new and improved language in this rather than the sorry crap thats in our current deal.
I know I would, and with that being said yes there contract has some better items in it, so that means we have an ever better start to a better deal.
I think there are many more postives to voting for this than against it.
Just MHO

PERV: I think you're onto something significant when you talk about
the 50% plus one mentality. Someone else pointed out that 51%
of the vote could represent an smaller percentage of the total workforce.

{so on and so forth }

I don't know who it was that called some of us the "hard core" NO votes.
I don't think that's a fair assessment at all. That guy Bryant(sic?), he
was hardcore.

You know what that 50% means ? It means DISSENTION … we won’t be able to agree on any one contract , and this company will play off it , for a very long time … if the company KNOWS what they have to do in order to get 50% plus one , they won’t come back with much more , and when they do , a lot of time will have passed us by …

You’’ll all be pissed at the next contract you see , but if the west isn’t rolled into your contract , the union will HAVE to present the offer … and we will do this all over again , it will be like a revolving door … and I don’t think you’ll get permission to strike , not if the membership is so close to voting something in time and time again …

If the union Didn’t present an offer to the membership and half of that membership feels that they should , you’ll have civil war within our union .

Here’s an interesting scenario for you … say we don’t vote this in , and the company comes and cuts a thousand or two east guys using the sixty day rule … then you guys threaten to strike …. There’s your replacement workers right there … and no they won’t be buying your solidarity B/S after having gone under the bus .

Want to know what this comes down to ?

How much longer each of you wants to fight …. For those of you who haven’t hit 25 years … I suggest you just vote yes , take your four weeks of vacation , your two added paid holidays , your improved sick pay and your increased wages and go find a beach somewhere and enjoy yourselves ….

The other choice is to vote no

We will continue to fight each other on here for years , crying about how shitty our union is and living in fear of what COULD happen in the future …

I don’t know about you all , but I don’t see the point in fighting all the way to 2011 perhaps 2012 or 2013 over what will turn out to be insignificant improvements in our contract .

Like I said before, you are all wasting your time and bandwidth.

Your not going to change anyone's mind on how they are going to vote, why waste your time?

I talk to these people you say no one cares about every week. They are
people with hardships just like you except they want to return to their
career at a rate their tenure deserves. I think about them every time
your callous fingers stink up this forum with the sickest trash talk. You
sicken me with the lack of respect you show these people. You not only
have a lack of concern as you drive the bus over them but you laugh
as you back up for seconds.
