I don't buy this for a minute. First of all apparently you and District Force are the only two that believe this line of BS. If there were even the remotest possibility of this being the case not only would more people be worried but you would have members of this forum that belong to other work groups on here begging us to take this T/A. Try again because your scare tactics are pretty weak.
I've seen the movie. I remember the line, "Lions, Tigers, and Bears...Oh My".
Nonetheless, to vote yes, the "Yes" position HAS to include such absurdities. Just doesn't make 'good sense' and there is no yellow brick road.

Huh?
Let me see if I got this right. Give up protections with the CIC, which Hemenway clearly needs. Give up scope for your very own beloved. So we can get united's money and make them money?

Please clarify.

One thing is guaranteed freedom and can't be denied. We vote this contract in and none of us will see United pay and benefits for the next decade. I think you seen this play out before when PHX voted in their last contract. What were you guys thinking? No wonder why the west is in this horrible shape. Didn't you realize that NO airline would want to open your contract up in a merger? And what makes you think United is any different? Do you think Canale will share those United profits with you?
Even after your contract was up in 2005, US AIRWAYS had no intention of negotiating your contract away since it was the cheapest contract they ever saw and you all voted your voice away and can't do anything about it unless the east votes your way. PHX has been reduced to meeting in the middle of the ramp because management doesn't have to listen to you. I dont' want that to be all of us if this contract passes. Management won't have to deal with us for the next decade and we will continue to fall backwards in industry pay and benefits.
This will be America West ramp Part 2 and we would end up being used as leverage against United much like PHX is being used as leverage against us. Leverage in the sense that Hemenway knows you guys are so hungry in PHX that you'll go for crumbs. He can count on you and part of that plays in to his calculations of shoving this at us. I think he was wrong though and played it too close since LAS and other west cities have been bitten once in 2001 and have learned.

Now, except for the names and a few other changes, you're asking the east to make the same mistake you guys made back then where you DID NOT HAVE A VOICE until US AIRWAYS needed the east CIC due to this merger?

I may be wrong but I am not convinced that even LAS agrees with you on this, let alone PHL and CLT.

No tim , there are other things guaranteed by voting NO , and that’s losing members to the sixty day rule , you can dance around it as much as you like , but we may lose hundreds to thousands of members , case in point , in robbed's station 30 and 40 year guys went down …

We wait till 2011 we can roll into their contract if we like or try for a new one ..

We accept this now the furloughs will begin starting shortly after this merger , and as time progresses and the price of oil rises , the company may continue to cut and cut and cut … you in the east will be the ones with your heads on the chopping block , the united people are too senior , the company wont bother much with them , their going to die or retire soon enough … the company will however get rid of you folk , because that’s what will be the most cost effective thing to do .

No = Chapter 7!
Yes = A Chance (means I PF get a big fat 11,000.00 raise. trust me the cost of private school is going up I need it.)

Do not buy into TN blather. It will change tomorrow or the day after depending on what tune he is trying to sing. Freedom is right on this, not that I often agree with him, but at this time there are few choices.

thats what he really means here in bold.

freedom,
what to you think the price of gas and milk and bread and such is going to cost in 2010,2011,2012
I'm guessing its not going down but your wages will be . IT'S CALLED INFLATION >...

P rez,
"However, still a yes on this POS mo-fo, based on earlier reasons.

Merger Update: United makes move in IAD

You won't read this in the papers but United seems to indicate that IAD will lose mainline flights for more regional service.

FWIW: UA just picked up Air willy in IAD and instead of employing UA workers, they are recalling a significant amount of Air willy members from many stations.

One thing you never mention Tim, is that if we vote this POS TA down and the merger is announced with UA in the next 2 weeks, that it may take another 2-3 years or longer to integrate all of us into a new contract. During that time UA rampers would enjoy their contract, the east guys would be under the BK contract and the west would be under the TWU contract. Not something I would be looking forward to.

Hey Roa, I am using some of your words here, vote yes on this POS MO-FO.

GF,
I totally understand where your coming from . with 30 plus years I can understand your logic on get what you can now

and fight down the road. That makes alot of sense for someone with as much time as you. I respect that. Hopefully this

is your last round at the neg table . I would hope that in 4 or 5 yrs your off on the beach renting umbrellas enjoying your

retirement . The only downside for you in this T/A is the lack of pension contributions . But for the 15 to 25 yr guys the ones

stuck here for at least another 10 yrs like it or not. So Guys remember everyone has there own reasons for there vote.

I'm in 24 yr with 3 kids to try and get through college so I am not going anywhere anytime soon . So I will have to live under

this agreement for a whole lot longer than someone like GF.

MY vote is still a H*ll NO. but am understanding of others plight .

Let's say you go to a car dealership to buy, yes, you guessed it, a car. They have 3 cars available---

1. a crappy car
2. a crappy car
3. a crappy car

Are you gonna buy a crappy car just because it has a spare tire, or are you gonna keep your crappy car a little while longer until they get a newer one on the lot? You know they're gonna call you when the newer one comes in, because they need your business, and they know you need a new car. C'mon g-man, hang in there a while longer and let's get this thing done right.
pit...

The thing is I don't know (nor does anyone) that they are gonna call me when the newer ones come in because I don't think they need my business that bad.....

I've been hanging in there too long...I'm tired....I would like to see a couple more hundred bucks in my monthly take home....

Joe,
I think want Golden was referring to was Personal Chapter 7 cause without that 100,000.00 plus job and working under

our current and present T/A proposal that's where HE is heading . as far as the company . I think not . remember Freedom has

the pulse of corporate on his side and DP is his superhero . so I highly doubt this company is going in the s*itter . It's funny the union

leadership seems to think that but Corporate doesn't . Gee that's new . I'm used to Corporate crying broke , but I guess that's hard

to do when you give yourself a 200% bonus incentive off the backs of the employees.

freedom

that may be the dumbest thing you have ever said, allthough there has been so many I can't remember for sure. look at the routes at the stations I wpuld be will to wager if there are cuts 80% plus will come form the west and that 60 day deal you keep trying to scare people with won't matter if they NEVER call you back

We wait till 2011 we can roll into their contract if we like or try for a new one ..
huh? You're just going to 'roll into UA's contract if we want to"? Really?

Don't you even see your present predicament? Did you just 'roll' into the east contract? Don't you even know why you haven't received one wage increase in 3 years? Don't you realize that what is happening to you is a direct result of your last Yes vote?

Your contract was up in 2005 and it was the best contract your company has ever seen, and that is why they weren't in ANY hurry to look at you or even hear your voice. Tell me freedom, is that what you want us to do? And do you honestly think UA will 'roll us' into a much higher contract? Will Canale just give you UA's profit sharing?

I think it makes 'good sense' that UA won't have anything to do with us until the next decade as nothing will compell them to come to the table since this contract has no protections or snapbacks, and the masses will have NO VOICE as they will be 'locked in' to an industry worst contract.

freedom,
", but CLT on the other hand , you had better hope if your working there that your not just senior , but VERY senior "

freedom you don't even know whats going on in your station much less whats going on at YOUR union hall , since you don't want

to be bothered. but Yet you want to venture out and predict what is going to happen in CLT. gee lets see new service on the system

and I do believe CLT pick all those up . OOOOOOOOh and by the way getting ready to UPGRADE TO FT 35 more people and

NEW hire classes full through the end of June. YEP clt is getting ready to downsize. Learn the facts before you start spouting off

OOOOOOOOOh and by the way USAIRWAYS HEDGES FUEL ........... If you don't know what that means go to PREZ he can explain

it to yea.

something to think about

our current AGC in clt . says and I quote " We need to get to traditional neg so where have the strike vote to leverage"

but then says "I recommend you take this deal and extend your contract 4 more years so we can get to traditional neg"

WTF....... talk about contradictions. What he really wants to say is take this s*it and TRY and live off it that way I GET my

11,000.00 bonus for another 4 yrs then we can go and fight for you guys. The problem here is the agc's want the money BUT aren't

willing to work for the membership to earn. they just want to extend , extend, extend . In 13 yrs this union has had 1 repeat 1

traditional NEG and that was the 1st contract which by the way the saying then was " You have to build on this and get improvements

next time" what a bunch of B/S .. you guys want to buy that crap out west go for it. BUT I FOR ONE am going down fighting for what

is right and fair.
