I'm being told by alot of flight crews that they hate the new catering packout. AW had all contract catering and US had their own in Hubs and Focus cities and nobody had any complaints about the packout then. Now these numskulls change it out to the contract packout and everyone is pissed. The change must be because somebody had to justify their job. I see all the changes made by America West as antiquated and backward. Way to go Doogies boys!

You have to give the packouts a chance to work. West side also went through the same thoughts and resistance that you went through. There are some unique challenges on the east side with respect to working on the carts, such as ice bin placement, smocks, etc. Catering will make adjustments in time, but they had to start somewhere, which is essentially loading carts the way it has been done in the west. And don't worry, catering has some experienced east side people working with them. You can look at any other airlines cart set ups and always think they they are worst than what you are used to. It would be wise to talk to catering, give specific examples of your challenges and then give them some time to adjust it.

These numbskulls also have never heard of the Shuttle before. We don't need any time at all to tell Tempura that the new packouts do not work.

I don't understand how it supposed to work. There's no place for ice. I, like everyone else, simply set up the cart like it used to be (making more work for myself), otherwise, it just seems stupid.

What really amazes me is that the side of the airline that has twice as many flights is suddenly supposed to do everything the way west does it.

Exactly. It just makes more busy work for us. Stupid cart. Nowhere for ice. Pretzel bags shoved in all crevices. Lots of things that we don't need, and not enough of what we DO need.

Now, now. Repeat after me...

"Obviously, I do not see the big picture. Obviously, I do not see the big picture. Obviously, I do not see the big picture."

Now, click your heels 3 times and make a wish on your ice mallet.

If it's any consolation, catering at AA has suddenly seemed to go to h*ll in a handbasket as well. Yesterday, I was serving fruit and hot bread only in FC on STL-MCO early flight. I also got an insert with 16 cartons of milk! We haven't served cereal on that flight in a year.

SKY HIGH states: "FEELING" LIKE THE (Doogie) STEP-CHILD, YET?
Someone in Tempe, is forgetting, the EAST SIDE has gone through multiple MERGERS, WE KNOW WHAT AND WHAT DOES NOT WORK.

Yeah we will get used to it! Not hardly pal! We won't be wearing "smocks", we won't use the cart the STUPID new way and we won't adapt to these Stupid policies. What we will do is take the time to tear everything apart in the back during boarding and put the whole thing back together the way that we want it. Finally Tempe will get tired of messing with it and change it back. Not one crew that I have worked with or talked to is willing to work this new system, everyone is just tearing it all apart and fixing it. It's like taking a step back in time with all of these crazy ideas!

This is the tip of the iceberg. Yes you've been through many mergers in the past, but as it was said in the beginning, this one is different.

The Airbus packouts show "someone" REALLY has NO CLUE of what is taking place on an a/c. Ice bins placed waist high in carriers that are NOT chilled.....Bozo obviously doesn't think it will melt, BUT it Will! (And they are crazy to think I will be dumping the bins before the Tidal Wave comes cascading down the aisle.) And the elimination of the small Water bottles in F/C was "tried" before and when the pax protested the issue was addressed....many F/A's have already stated they will give out all the BIG bottles, so where is the savings? But yet the small bottle will be provisioned on the A321.....talk about inconsistent! Try explaining this to a pax that makes multiple connex on a diversified fleet<Int'l/Mainline/Shuttle/RJs and Express> It is NOT that difficult!

Oh but don't you know, west carts are not chilled. Not only that, but they must have 3 or 4 different galleys on their Airbuses. So what do they do, tell those on the east side whose Airbuses have EXACTLY the same galleys that we should do it they way they do in PHX. It just makes no sense.

well i did it there way and guess what it Dosent work....

What the hell are they gonna mess with next? I mean can we say screw up a one car funeral? 🙄 If it sounds good on paper or worked for you in a mockup it MUST be good. Intentions may be good but because it works for the west does not mean it works for the east and especially the shuttle. I couldn't even imagine it. geeeeesh. I'd be ready to push the damn carts out the door.
