You reap the benefits of the union but yet you don't understand how you got those benefits
it's called FIGHTING for whats right . I have been involved in the union movement for far longer than
you could even spell the word.

As for your preparedness for the upcoming GREAT DEPRESSION. You are once again cluesless.
by selling all your 401 and burring all coins in mason jars in the back yard. WHAT do you think that does
to the economy. See Dumb arses like you is what continues the panic frenzy that wall street is playing .

god help us all if your generation is suppose to keep this economy and world afloat . Go back to playing
your video games because you are CLUELESS in living through a recession. Here's a hint. it's called
Living within your means and SAVING . yes SAVING as much as you can. since your personal finances
maybe in the sh**er doesn't mean the rest of the world is .

here's a question for you . MR UNION man .. Where's your local . When's your meetings . No cheating
you can't call your company patsy boy RR for the answers. that doesn't count .

i should say that i don't suffer from arrogance , althou i do find it to be a useful TOOL as that some of you need constant reminding of who stood behind what policy position and how the game has unfolded thus far ..

When i say my duty , i mean as a citizen .. not a union representative , my duty as it pertains to being an American citizen .

o-man , i know little of what you speak of .. my focus is attention to how the sick policy is unfolding , but it's a mere distraction to me ... my GOAL is paying attention to see how the economic situation is coming down ..

the economic situation is important to monitor because it can affect us in innumerable ways .. First , should we be concerned about future job losses aka furloughs ? i believe that we should be worried ... As the economy contracts fewer passengers will be flying , less bags will be loaded fewer workers needed ... Unlike past recessions , the environment that we are now furloughing our workers into may be much changed from prior recessions , how hard will it be for some of our former brothers and sisters to land new jobs ? in some states the unemployment rate is close to 10 % .... I've reviewed our furlough benefits and their not that great .

Another question , as the economy continues to decline and the stock market takes hits ,where is our IAM pension plan money stored ? Is it safe ? do we have it invested ? what company oversees it ? AIG ? do we know these questions , should we be asking about this issue ? What would happen to the pension if united were to close down because of more difficult times ?

While you may see our company infringing on our contract as the MOST important issue of the day , i see the MOST important issue of the day to be the general economy and it's effects upon our corporation , because what affects us airways effects us . Is our contract important ? yes it is , but should our sole focus as a union be merely to our contract and not to the general well being of our workers ? i fear that the general membership could be threatened by extream economic conditions , and while we can't do anything to change the economy , we as a union can at least take steps to ensure that our people understand the options open to them and their families . in the union messenger it talked about FMLA , might it be time to discuss bankruptcies and how they work ? Might it at some future time be prudent to talk about credit and the different types such as secured and unsecured ? we as a work group come from mostly the same economic status , so i see the messenger as being a good tool to educate people such as ourselves to the problems that we may face in our future .

i think we are both looking out for the well being of our people , what we have is a difference of focus .

NH'S battle is with management, as well as MC'S. Freedom simply will never get it until he's on the outside looking in! Also he needs about 10 more years in seniority to be respectfully wrong.

to answer your ?? about our pension . It is fully funded and didn't take a hit with wall street
it's funds are invested in very conservative funds. ( this coming from the President of the International
at the district convention). as far as UA , yes it would put a strain on the growth of the pension fund
but you are guaranteed what you are vested in .

as far as BK . are you referring that your great leader DP would run this airline back into BK . I thought
you said he was the greatest financial leader you have ever seen . wouldn't think he would have to resort
to the courts but whatever.

we on the east have endured 911 ( which by the way was going to cause the aviation to liquidate . which
it didn't)
then you see we or should I say the EAST went down the BK thing not 1 but 2. and that's the ONLY way
the company can or will get into our contract ..

all I can say is I would hope that NH had some others around to restrain him . I've seen the rage come out

and it ain't pretty . so freedom my suggestion is to stay away it's in your best interest . The man isn't interested

about the gloom and doom of YOUR world , his interest is first and for most of the membership HE serves.

well it sounds as if the pension is not in danger , althou i continue to be uneasy ... even conservative funds may at some future point be at risk , GE one of the worlds largest companies with AAA credit ratings is starting to flounder a bit due to their financial arm...

As for the effect of doug parker , i think he will buy us more time , that's why i feel we will make it to the 4th quarter of next year , heck maybe even into 2010 ... he's creative and i believe that he will give it his all to keep this company afloat ... however i also feel that irregardless of his best efforts and the sacrifices of our workers that we shall still fail eventually .

As to bankruptcy , at this point that may no longer be an option on the table for any but the best funded airlines ... if your not aware of it , many companies have simply gone to liquidation these days because they can no longer get bankruptcy financing . it appears that companies do not solely fund their own BK's but that an outside investor contributes money to it . One of the main suppliers to companies BK financing used to be GE's financial wing , but they have stopped extending those monies to companies that are in BK ... ( DIP , debtor in possession .)

i did indeed vote for those 11 stations to go bye bye , but that won't be for quite sometime , and at the rate the us economy is burning down we may be long gone before then ... so no, that no longer bothers me .

also , as for 911 , it's been said many times that this crisis our nation faces is even greater than 911 , and i feel that is accurate , right now we're heading toward a recession level that's predicted to be around that of the 1980's or slightly worse .. i feel that these predictions are wrong and we are heading toward a depression and not a sever recession .

Damn that's a good one...........Freedom believes in "Company" and then who knows what else.............I work with alot of people from the west who work doubles almost everyday to try and make ends meet. Freedom would like us to believe we should do that forever instead of demanding more. I don't care what the economy is doing. It will rebound and he doesn't seem to get it. Being " Satisfied" is not enough. I don't care if it was last spring, this summer or 2011........The Fight is on..........
